Floating Flower Bath Ballistic

Christmas has barely closed the door behind itself before consumers are already pining after the next seasonal event - Valentine's Day. As per usual, Lush are quick to cater to their loyal fans - bringing out a range dominated by pinks and reds; the sweet and fruity.

Floating Flower Bath Bomb is the only new bath ballistic to feature in this year's Valentine's Day range - a beautiful flower-shaped item that showcases a vivid pink base with a green and yellow top. As it's name suggests, this bath bomb floats on the surface of the water, and despite its rather thin base, is big enough to be used across two baths.

Sharing it's scent with the Lust range, the fragrance of this limited edition item can currently be found in Lush's Yes Yes Yes Massage Bar, Godiva Solid Shampoo and Lustre Dusting Powder. Despite containing multiple oils to pad out the aroma, this bath bomb boasts a deep, sensual and very strong jasmine scent. While the ylang ylang adds a slight sweetness to the mix, and palmarosa gives the item a subtle herbaceous smell, it is the jasmine that overpowers all of these ingredients and offers the consumer a very heady floral aroma.

What I love about Floating Flower is that while the bath ballistic is very strong - exactly what you'd expect from something in this scent range, once the bomb has dissolved in the water, the fragrance dispels somewhat and leaves a wonderfully thick, padded-out aroma that isn't as pungent on the senses as you would imagine. If you enjoy jasmine but dislike this range because it's too strong, this bath bomb might be something you'll appreciate.

As soon as this beauty hits the water, the ballistic begins to spew out thick waves of pink foam and the wonderful smells elevate around the room. This is a slow and rather quiet bathing companion, so it's a lovely experience to be able to watch this product get to work and fill your tub with gorgeous, vivid and rather romantic colours.
After a few minutes, blues, greens and yellows begin to seep out of the bath bomb and you get a beautiful blanket of fluffy foam decorating the surface of the tub. The water also becomes a beautiful baby-pink colour  - something that is very warming on the senses and leaves you feeling well and truly pampered afterwards.

All in all, this bath bomb takes a good ten minutes to fully dissolve, so it may be worth you climbing into the bath and enjoying the experience up close and personal. My only advice would be that you don't disturb the ballistic while it is in use - I tried this on my first attempt and found that Floating Flower tends to sink if you do this and it won't recover.
The smell of this bath bomb stays with you throughout the entire experience and although the silky foam dissolved fairly quickly, the water was still soft enough to moisturise and soften my skin and leave me feeling well and truly satisfied. The scent also remains on your skin after you've exited the bath so it would work well to top up with the massage bar or the dusting powder afterwards.

What is great about Floating Flower Bath Ballistic is that while it is primarily a floral fragrance, it would still appeal to both men and women; it's strong enough for those who like the more dominant smells, while sweet and floral enough to still appeal to those who like this sort of smell. I will definitely be buying a few more of these before they are discontinued.

  1. I bought this one lunch time, popped it in my satchel and thought no more about it until I unpacked for the night. Wow! The smell has beautifully permeated my bag and although I have stashed it in my room I still caught wafts of the scent while on the tube this morn! So excited to try it now! I love your blog so much!! Have you ever thought of doing a Q & A? I have a few questions I'd like to know! Also in your product reviews would it be possible to write the date of when these products where originally released? I know you often do but as a relative newbie I have a craving to know what has been going on before I came to love lush.

    1. I love products that permeate your clothes/bags/room etc... I have a bottle of Rose Jam in the bathroom at the moment and that's all I can smell when I go in there - it's wonderful. Thank you so much for your kind words - I am so glad that people love my blog and I'm not just a crazy person talking to myself hehe! I haven't thought about a Q & A but I think that's a fantastic idea - I will get one set up!

As for dates, I'll write it on my list of 'things to do to improve my blog'. I'm always looking for ways to make this site as informative as possible so I'll definitely do it! I just have a few things to do before this :)

  2. I'm looking forward to trying all of the Valentine's Day Lush goodies, I'm expecting my shipment today (and a few others from trades/other purchase)! Seeing that I missed the holidays & Boxing Day being sick, I'm definitely making it up with these orders :D Also a couple Lush Kitchen orders on the way as well. I'm really looking forward to the Floating Flower, Heart Throb, Love Locket & especially Unicorn Horn! Thanks for the great reviews on these items, I look forward to many more :) <3

    1. I hope everything is as lovely as it was for me. While I was a little disappointed about how boring Unicorn Horn was in the bath, I did really love the smell and I'll be buying more just because it helps me sleep.
