Lord Of Misrule Naked Shower Cream

It wasn’t until this little gem appeared at the Lush Showcase earlier this year, that I realised it hadn’t been released before. As someone who believes that this is Lush’s best fragrance ever, I should have known better - although I blame the abundance of new products for the minor slip up on my part.

While there have been many products released in this scent, including a bath bomb, body lotion and perfume to name but a few, there are usually subtle differences between the formats. However, I was really impressed when I discovered that this naked edition was actually very similar to the liquid shower cream, and replicated its smell really well. This may sound a tad obvious, but with so many different variations of the scent, it would have been very easy for this format to differ quite considerably from the original product it was trying to imitate.

As with most of Lush’s most recent naked shower gels, this bright green bottle is very slightly soft and squidgy to the touch. Although it’s robust enough to last a few months with daily use, its consistency means it is prone to making a bit of a slimy mess on whatever surface it’s resting on. For this reason, I would highly suggest that you think carefully when considering how to store this in between uses. Having said that, the naked bottle does dry fairly quickly, so you don’t need to worry about patting it down after every shower. However, it needs to be stored somewhere dry otherwise it'll just remain a slippery mess for days on end.

As patchouli is the main ingredient in Lord Of Misrule Naked Shower Cream, the first note to greet your nose is a dry and rather earthy smell. You can detect the warm, spicy elements of the black pepper underneath this, which creates such a wonderfully comforting, and very distinctive aroma.

Underneath both of these components sits the vanilla absolute, which weaves a sweet, creamy layer of scent to round all of the ingredients together. This latter addition removes the spicy kick of the pepper and brings it all together to produce a well-rounded, comforting aroma that can be enjoyed at any time of the year, but especially during the colder season. This is one of those smells that lends itself to being many peoples signature scent as it is rather unique and very interesting  to wear - it's definitely one of mine.

As it's a shower cream, Lord Of Misrule is not as generous as a regular shower gel, so don't expect an abundance of foam to clean your body with. Instead, this naked shower cream produces a thick, creamy lather that just sort of rubs off from the bottle and straight onto your body.

Whereas some creams and soaps don't leave me feeling as clean as a shower gel would, this messy, green stuff is easy enough to massage across your skin, and you do feel clean after rinsing it away. What impressed me even further was the fact that the scent did linger on my skin afterwards, for at least an hour, and there was a smoothness about my hands in particular that showed me that it was in fact rather moisturising.

On the negative side, I do feel as if Lord Of Misrule Shower Cream is a little more demanding of your time when compared to the bottle version. I say this because it does prove to be a little messy between uses, and while solid products don't run the risk of spillage during transit, I don't quite know how clean my bag would be if I chose to bring this on holiday with me. I would certainly need to wrap it in something, which sort of defies the point of it being a naked product altogether.

Overall, this is a lovely rendition of the Lord Of Misrule scent, and it is a great replica of the liquid shower cream as well. Given that I've been using it on and off for the last month, and it has barely shrunk at all, I think this would make for a great investment. It has certainly proven to be easier to use than the last batch of shower cream, which a lot of customers weren't even able to get out of the bottle.
