Yokozuna Bath Bomb

Oh boy, oh boy! While the excitement of so many new bath bombs has still yet to wear off, the last couple of experiences I have had have definitely put a dampener on the whole process. Not even 24 hours after I scrubbed down the bath following my Fairy Trumpets fiasco, I found myself doing the same thing once again for this little cretin.

Yokozuna was perhaps the bath bomb that I had researched the most before trying it out for size myself; only because it was described as having both the Sea Salted Caramel and Butterball scents at the same time. Although I wasn't successfully able to envisage what an amalgamation of these two smells would be like, the mere thought of this pairing had me salivating from the word go.

What I will say about this exclusive product is that the Butterball components are far stronger than the Sea Salted Caramel, which is a little disappointing as I was hoping for it to be the other way around. Having said that, Yokozuna is definitely a very beautiful smelling bath bomb, and one that fans of foody smells will no doubt relish in the thought of.

When I first smelled this out of its box, the main scent I could detect was a sweet, creamy and very musky vanilla fragrance: just as you'd expect a Butterball-scented product to offer you. However, as the scent came out of its shell a little more, I recognised the key notes of the sea salted caramel, and that's when the bath bomb began to impress me a little more.

There is something rather rich and sultry about the smell of this: like a freshly made pan of salted caramel sauce with just the tiniest sprinkling of clove underneath. Yet at the same time, the aroma has a musky, powdery sweetness that comes from the vanilla absolute as well. Therefore, there are times when I would describe the notes to be almost syrup-like, and other times when it's almost like a burnt vanilla instead. Either way, it's a lovely gentle fragrance that warms and comforts your senses before it's even made its way into the bath.

What was also impressive about Yokozuna was that it featured a very generous helping of coarse sea salt, which really made a difference in the water and left my skin feeling really clean and smooth. Although I wouldn't describe this as being overly moisturising, it definitely leaves a lovely impression on the body, and I didn't need to use a body lotion afterwards.

Having said that, my experience turned sour very quickly after placing this bath bomb in the water. Not only was it an incredibly fast-fizzer - completely dispersing in under a minute - but it didn't offer anything in the way of bath art, aside from the vibrant shade of orange that spread itself very quickly around the tub.

Just like Fairy Trumpets, the bath bomb left a glean on the surface, which I was hoping would mean my experience would be super nourishing. However, within a matter if minutes, I watched in horror as these oils dispersed across the surface of the water and painted my bath tub another shade of bright pink. Using a flannel near by to attempt a removal of the colour before it became too stubborn, I discovered very quickly that the pink stains were not going to wash off without the help of my bottle of bathroom cleaner.

As if my experience wasn't already tarnished, when I went to exit the tub I discovered that I had large pink stains across my chest, stomach and right arm. After using up an entire scrub in the shower immediately after, I was able to get rid of the pink marks. However, by that stage my impression of this supposedly 'cute' bath bomb was well and truly tarnished.

While the collaboration of fragrances are delicious and the bath bomb itself offers a wonderfully adorable design, this is definitely not one that will be coming anywhere near my tub again. This is a real shame because the scent was super present during and after my bath, and I was still able to smell remnants of the smell on my skin as well.
