Apandapand happens to be the last of the new soaps that I picked up - not managing to grab myself a slice until my fourth visit. This wasn't intentional at all, merely the luck of the draw when it came to which ones I made a grab for when I passed the soap counter in the Oxford Street store. However, almost immediately after I began using the product in the shower, I regretted not purchasing it sooner, and here's why.
Described by Lush as a 'citrusy, grapefruit soap', this product does and smells exactly as you would imagine. Containing fresh grapefruit juice as well as grapefruit oil and lemon oil, this beautiful product has a light, crisp and very sour fruity aroma. If you imagine juicing a ripe grapefruit first thing in the morning and adding a pinch of lemon, you'll have a good indication of what this soap smells like.
Apandapand also features litsea cubeba oil - a component that I had not come across before I began using this product. After a little research, I discovered that this oil is derived from a May Chang tree, where the pepper-shaped fruits have their oils extracted and used throughout the cosmetics industry in a variety of ways. While the ingredient boasts many benefits, its citrus, 'lemonesque' scent is immediately uplifting and rejuvenating, which makes it very useful for combating emotional problems and psychological issues: a much-needed support system, especially in the early mornings.
While some would argue that it's a very two-dimensional fragrance, I love the fact that it's neither cloying nor too heavy on the senses. Much like Bohemian or Baked Alaska, this is the perfect morning companion as it'll leave you feeling and smelling squeaky clean while delivering a scent that will invigorate your senses and stimulate your mind, readying you for the day ahead.
Designed to replicate that of a pink grapefruit, when Amandapand is cut into slices, you're left with a pink, white and yellow block of colour - a beautiful product that looks rather lovely and inviting in your soap dish.
In the shower, this product is very easy to lather up and I have found that a 100g block would easily last me for a good month, this is using it every day. The soap produces a generous, velvety-soft foam, which works wonderfully at cleaning your skin and leaving it feeling positively glowing. Despite the abundance, I was also pleased to discover that my chunk didn't noticeably shrink between uses, making this great value for money in the long run.
As I said above, this is a great soap for those hotter months - when you want something cleaning but uplifting and refreshing in the shower, and this is a soap that does exactly that. It works well at calming oily skin and balancing out levels of secretion without drying it out, so this works well for people of all skin types.
Although I don't tend to use many soaps as I much prefer jellies and gels, this is definitely one that I would use again and I may even stock up on it during my next visit - hopefully preparing myself for the hotter weather that we're going to get over the coming months.

ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the name of this product, I hoped this would be a soap version of amondopondo bubble bar! Do the two really have nothing to do with each other?
