Shoot For The Stars Bath Bomb

Shoot For The Stars is one of those bath ballistics that instantly grabs your attention, whether you're interested in its scent or not. When it first appeared online during the 2013 Christmas range, I didn't really care what it did or what it smelled like - I just had to have it.

Composed of a beautiful rich blue shell, decorated with stripes of yellow and etched with the shape of a pearl-coloured shooting star across its body, this seasonal release is flawless in every way. Also scattered amongst these features are small specks of pink, which not only give the impression of a starlit night-sky across the shell, but do so when this beauty hits the water as well. It's definitely one of Lush's most vividly beautiful ballistics to date, and hints at the wonderful display of colour that it offers in the bath tub.

As soon as you drop the ballistic into the water, you realise how special this experience is going to be. One of Lush's slower working ballistics, this one takes a good 10 -15 minutes to fully dissolve, and it is in this time that you can enjoy the show that it puts on for you to watch.
Despite its speed, the product immediately begins to spew out thick blue foam that froths on the surface and sends out bursts of fragrance throughout the bathroom. Turning the water an enchanting shade of blue, the bomb spins slowly while swirls of pink, purple, silver and yellow ooze out and settle into beautiful clusters on the water's surface. Lush claim that small stars should shoot out at this point, although I have yet to see any of these. However, once I was in the bath, I did notice a slight shimmer of silver glitter under the surface.

Enriched with the popular Honey I Washed The Kids scent, this sensual bath bomb remained potent until the very end of my experience. The mouthwatering honey toffee fragrance lingered from the moment the bath bomb hit the water until the moment I resentfully climbed out of the tub. The scent was perfectly balanced; not too strong to seem overpowering, but not too weak as to dissipate in the water.
About this bath bomb, Lush say; 'this one's for all you star gazers out there, creating a magnificent bath with swirling lustres and beautiful colours. As various and enchanting as the night sky.' And I couldn't agree more. This bath bomb is magical from it's design to it's beautiful scent. There is nothing I'd change about this product aside from making it an all year-round product. Buy one of these while they're still available because you'll regret it if you don't.

    1. Hi Rachel, welcome to the world of Lush! There are so many things I could recommend a newbie, but I'll stick with a few of my favourites.

      Suggestions Part 1:

When it comes to regular products, I firstly recommend that you try either Avobath Bath or Dragon's Egg bath bombs - both of these are very citrusy and leave your skin feeling and smelling amazing; The Brightside Bubble Bar is also a beautiful zesty sherbet affair and lasts across 3-4 baths so it's great value for money.

While it may look a little tricky to use, From Dusk 'Til Dawn Massage Bar has a wonderful fruity aroma and is great to use once a week/fortnight to massage across your skin and regenerate that moisture; Shades of Earl Grey Massage Bar is a soft, lemony scent that might suit your tastes if you want something a little more mellow.

If you want to add a burst of essential oils into your baths, You've Been Mangoed is a super citrusy experience, and this can be cut in half to be shared across two baths.

Karma Kream is definitely your best bet for a Body Lotion - it's sweet and fruity (with Patchouli and bergamot oil) and is incredibly light on your skin so it's absorbed really easily and won't leave you feeling greasy.

If you want to try shampoos, I would definitely recommend either Big Shampoo (which has a smell toddy for!) and will add volume to your hair while leaving it feeling like silk) or Brazilliant Solid Shampoo Bar, which smells like orange sherbet and will really soften your hair and leave it looking radiant!

  4. The stars were there, but alas they sank straight to the bottom of the bath.
