Artemis Body Lotion
In 2009, during one of Lush's notorious forum parties, Artemis Cream was revealed. Named after a member of the Lush forum; Artemis, who had been pleading with the company to make a raspberry and lime scented body lotion, this product was only available for a few, short hours. Some four years later, I managed to grab a rare bottle from an eBay seller and I only hope it's not the last I've seen of it.
Firstly, I wouldn't describe the initial fragrance that I get from this lotion, as either raspberry or lime. To me, Artemis Cream smells a little like what you'd get if you mixed cocoa butter with a light, apply scent. Surprisingly, it has a sweet, gentle smell; nothing that's going to override your perfume. I was expecting an almost sour fragrance, from both the addition of fresh lime infusion and fresh raspberry. Instead, the fragrance comes across as more of a creamy, fruity smell; it's subtle, but still strong enough to leave you smelling rather scrummy.
Secondly, Artemis Cream is one of Lush's lighter lotions; similar in texture to the likes of Celebrate or Charity Pot. However, unlike both of the above lotions, this cream is not very hydrating or moisturising at all. It's absorbed quickly by the skin and spreads easily across your skin, without leaving it greasy or oily, however it doesn't really make your skin feel any different to how it was before you applied the product.
Despite the above point, I still really like this body lotion. The scent is unique and definitely something I'd love Lush to use in other products, including ballistics and a shower gel. The scent is it's selling point, and what makes it great, is that, four years on, my bottle of Artemis Cream still leaves my skin smelling amazing a full twelve hours after application.
Although it's not a product I would use to moisturise my skin, it is one I'd use regularly to give me that uplifting, fruity scent when I need a little re-energising. Some may argue that it's sole purpose is to moisturise, and as it doesn't do this very well, almost defeats the point of it being sold at all. However, I would be happy to use this in conjunction with another product to get it's great smell, while relying on the other lotion to moisturise my skin.
