Cherry Blossom Reusable Bubble Bar is one such product that, while pretty to look at, doesn't have that 'wow' factor that I would expect from most of Lush's bathing products. Presented as two cherry blossoms on a wooden stick, this sweet and fruity offering is probably the least attractive bubble bar available from Lush right now.
Don't get me wrong, it's far from ugly, and as far as judging a book by its cover, I haven't based my opinions of this solely on the design. However, when placed next to the likes of Divination and Flowering Tea, the bubble bar is just not as attractive or as interesting as its siblings.
Containing lemon, almond, rosewood and cedarwood oils, I was expecting a citrus fragrance with perhaps a warming, woody aroma to round the smell off - a scent similar to Smuggler's Soul was what first sprang to mind when I read the ingredients list. However, the smell of this bubble bar matches both the name and colour of this product - a sweet, fruity cherry-esque smell with an almost powdery smell that makes this bubble bar a rich and decadent experience.
Just like the Happy Blooming Bath Melt, this bathing companion smells of Bakewell tart - a combination of dried cherries and almonds that give the product an almost marzipan-scented aroma. In a way, this bubble bar reminds me of Cherry drops - a boiled sweet that you find in most confectionary shops. However, unlike the melt and the candy, Cherry Blossom is not very potent at all - meaning that you really have to strain your senses to enjoy the smell of the product.
As with the other reusable bubble bars currently available, Cherry Blossom is very reasonably priced. For £5.95, this bubble bar can be used multiple times - making it a lot cheaper than a normal bubble bar or ballistic. Lush claim that you can reuse these bars a good five or six times, although I found that this one lasted across two baths.
What is great about this reusable bar is that it is very generous with the bubbles it produces. Simply hold the product underneath the running tap and the bar will immediately begin to dispel light fragrant bubbles that coat the surface of the water and create a thick blanket to submerge yourself beneath. Impressive is the fact that the water not only turns a light shade of Mexican pink, but that the bubbles remain prominent throughout the entire bathing experience.
Unfortunately, once I was submerged under the water, I couldn't detect the smell of this bubble bar very well at all, and it was only after I had exited the bathroom and come back, that I was able to appreciate the smell once more. You can imagine my surprise then when I discovered that I could smell a gentle trace of the scent on my body afterwards, and it made me realise how much this bubble bar would go well with Artemis Body Lotion.
On the positive side, this bubble bar created a wonderfully moisturising bath and I was really impressed to experience how quickly the condition of my skin improved once I was in the tub. However, this would not be a product that I would use by itself again. As part of a cocktail, this reusable bubble bar might very well add some much needed sweetness and a ton of fluffy bubbles, but by itself it is a little bit of a let down.
