Outback Mate Soap

While it wasn't one of the products that I was initially that excited about trying, when my best friend heard about this soap she became immediately intrigued. Endemic to Australia, eucalyptus is the smell that she and many other Australians associate with their country - a crisp, clinical smell that insinuates positive memories and comforting thoughts.

Outback Mate Soap is Mark Constantine's response to a sea of requests for products with its smell - a name chosen as a play on the popular Australian saying. Having said this, it wouldn't be fair to write this off as just being a 'eucalyptus soap' - it is so much more than this, and it only took a single use for me to recognise this factor.

With a blue eucalyptus infusion as the main ingredient, it's safe to say that this soap does have a strong aroma to match this. Coupled with the peppermint oil, this product gives off a wonderful minty, pine scent - one that is reminiscent of Vick's Vapour Rub but a little less potent. It's a really refreshing aroma - one that it soothing on the senses and calming on the mind.

Alongside the inclusion of lemongrass oil, which gives this soap an uplifting and very prominent thread of citrusy goodness, this soap reminds me of what it would be like if Ocean Salt and Ice Blue Soap intertwined with a shot of eucalyptus. Together, these different components make this a really fresh, soothing soap - one that would be perfect after a long day, when you need something to help you unwind.

As well as its fragrance, these ingredients also help to clean and tone the skin - leaving your skin looking radiant and feeling invigorated. This is a perfect summer soap to help cool you down after a hot and stuffy day in the heat, yet it would also be a great addition to any winter shower as it would help to perk you up and leave you ready to face the day.

In the shower, this soap isn't overly generous with its lather but it certainly creates more than enough to wash yourself with. Producing a soft foam when massaged under the running water, this cleans and soothes your skin - leaving you with soft, fragrant and very refreshed feeling skin. I was amazed at how wonderful my body felt after using this as I'm used to most Lush soaps leaving my skin taut and slightly dry.

Once you've left the shower, the peppermint and eucalyptus smell lingers on your body, while your skin remains clean, cool and smooth throughout the day. As you would expect with a soap of this nature, this is definitely a uni-sex product, and one that works best at times when you just need that little extra something to awaken your senses. I would definitely buy this again and cannot wait to try this out after a long day at the beach this summer.

  1. Hi Jen, I know that is unrelated to this post but I didn't know how else to contact you. You have inspired me to write a blog, and I was wondering if you had any top writing tips, because I feel my posts are boring to read. Plus how do you get people to read your blog and make your blog well known ??
    Many thanks
