How this relates to Game Of Thrones I don't know, but the description 'a song of ice and fire for after the sauna' was enough to make me intrigued about this new addition to Lush's impressive shower jelly collection. If the vibrant green colour was not enough to convince you to invest in a tub, the fragrances that have gone into making it would be more than suffice.
Needles And Pine Shower Jelly is the perfect shower companion - a jelly packed full of essentials oils and seaweed to leave you feeling and smelling amazing. The perfect accompaniment to anyones shower whether it be the summer or the winter, its versatility is boundless and extremely impressive.
With the main ingredient being a pine needle and cypress leaf infusion, you can already envisage the fragrance of the product before you've even had the pleasure of removing the lid and giving it a sniff. The latter ingredient gives this jelly a lovely, gentle evergreen fragrance, while the latter offers its own unique, natural aroma - one exactly like you'd expect to come from fresh pine needles.
The inclusion of the grapefruit oil helps to add a subtle citrus element to the jelly - a component that supports and elevates the other notes and gives this jelly an uplifting, refreshing and very 'green' overall smell. In a way, Needles And Pine reminds me a little of Whoosh Shower Jelly - with just the added bonus of those natural scents that makes this unbelievably gorgeous.
Aside from the aroma, these ingredients also help to make this a very moisturising experience - one that leaves your skin feeling really silky-smooth and thoroughly clean. The fragrance lingers on the skin for hours - the combination of the aroma and the essential oils helping this product to keep your skin calm when you might otherwise be feeling stressed.
Furthermore, these ingredients have been carefully selected by Lush to help stimulate the blood circulation under your skin, which in turn adds colour and vibrancy to your body and leaves you looking radiant. I found that freezing this the night before I used it also helped to intensify this circulation and helped me to cool down after a long, hard and very busy day at work.
While everyone has their own methods, I found that slicing this shower jelly like a sausage - rolling it on it's side and dividing it into 1cm thick pieces, was the best way to make the most out of the jelly. These pieces lasted a good couple of weeks in the shower, which in turn helped me to savour this 250g pot over the course of two months.
Although Needles And Pine is not the most fragrant of the jellies, it does come alive more when integrated under the warmth of the running water. And while it still isn't the most potent of smells, it's perfect for if you're looking for something calming and gentle to reawaken your senses and leave you feeling throughly refreshed.
At first I was not overly excited about this shower jelly, but it was quick to impress me and it is definitely one that I would buy again in the future. While I am much more of a shower gel person, I do think that this works really well in this format and I cannot see it being as successful in liquid form. A lovely new addition to the Lush scent family.
