For this reason, when the Kitchen announced that they would be bringing out a body lotion and solid perfume in this scent, I cannot say I was all that excited about it. Even when it arrived, it was pushed aside for the likes of Grass and The Brightside, and it wasn't until a couple of days later that I decided to venture into my parcel and pull out Sex Bomb Body Lotion to use for the first time.
What impressed me the most about this limited edition, was that I found the scent suited this format more than the bath bomb itself. There was something about the subtlety of this body lotion that really hit it off with me immediately, and I found myself turning to this product far more times than I would have expected.
Containing a combination of clary sage and ylang ylang oil, jasmine absolute and synthetic musk, Sex Bomb Body Lotion is a light, sensual floral smell, with elements of cloudy sweetness to boot. From the tub you get the gentle herbal properties of the clary sage, which almost gives this lotion a certain refreshing
appeal about it. This, along with the delicate notes from the ylang ylang, gives this lotion a natural floral smell that I would describe as being 'pretty'. Finally, there is a light layer of musk over the top of both of these - one that draws all of the elements together and adds a gentle sweetness to the lotion as well.
On the skin, I found that the lotion was of a medium consistency - not as thick as the likes of Calacas, but not as thin as the popular Karma Kream Body Lotion. This meant that the body lotion absorbed into the skin rather quickly, and it was really easy to massage it across the skin without leaving any residue behind. Furthermore, I found that I didn't need to use very much to coat my whole body, and so a 240g tub would last longer than some other lotions.
Once on the skin, Sex Bomb continues to offer the same notes of floral and sweetness for a good hour after application. I came to really appreciate how light and refreshing the scent was on my skin, and how the subtle components were all there, without being overpowering. What I found rather interesting was that there seemed to a little note of cocoa butter on my skin as well - something that I didn't find with any of the other body lotions being released at the same time. While it is not very strong at all, and most people won't be able to detect it after the first 5-10 minutes, I quite appreciated the extra layer of scent to carry around with me.
As with most of Lush's body lotions, this one got to work at moisturising my skin, and I found that my skin looked radiant, and felt far plumper and healthier, after using Sex Bomb Body Lotion. In addition, the lightness of the lotion meant that I was able to use it before heading out into the sun, and I didn't feel weighed down as I did with some of the aforementioned releases.
As I was expecting to dislike this body lotion to begin with, I was both surprised and amazed to find myself dipping into this pot nearly every single day. In fact, I chose to take this product to school with me, so I could use it whenever I needed a top up, and found that I didn't need to use it very often because of how effective it was.
While I wouldn't rush out to buy another tub of this any time soon - most notably because there are other body lotions that I appreciate a lot more, this is definitely one I would consider buying again in the future. I also happen to think that this would make a very popular regular-line product, and perhaps this is something we can expect to see at some point in the stores.
