Enzymion Facial Moisturiser

When did I get to the stage when I need a facial moisturiser in my life? Geez! I remember it wasn't too long ago that I didn't use make-up, let alone products specially designed to rejuvenate facial pores. Still, now that I've introduced them into my life, I'd find it very difficult to do without my morning routine; shower, cleanser, moisturiser, make-up.

As usual, I was skeptical at first about Enzymion, simply because it claims to be a moisturiser for those with oiler skin, which is something I've never suffered from. In fact, as I've mentioned in previous reviews, I actually have very dry skin, so my initial thought was that this moisturiser would actually make my skin even drier. However, as with every Lush product, I refused to make a judgement until I had tried it for myself.

On opening the tub, I was immediately overwhelmed with how beautiful it smells; Enzymion contains papaya juice, lemon juice, aloe, and lime and grapefruit essential oils which give it a wonderful tropic fragrance unlike anything else in the Lush range.

Aside from it's beautiful scent, the fresh ingredients have also been chosen to help make this a multi-purpose moisturiser; the papaya and lemon are packed full of acids and enzymes which help to reduce oiliness and brighten the skin; the multiple oils and cocoa butter have been included to help tone and moisturise the face whilst taking away the 'shine' that oily skin can sometimes present.
As I mentioned at the beginning of my review, I don't have oily skin, so I was worried this product would be too greasy and heavy for me. On the contrary, I was amazed at how light and refreshing my skin felt, even after the initial use, and how my skin continued to glow throughout the entire three months that it took for me to finish the whole tub.

Often products for oily skin focus on cleaning and stripping away oil, whereas Lush have created a product that helps to treat the skin with gentle care and work to find the skin’s own natural balance. I think this latter point is why the lotion worked so well for my skin even though I didn't fit the profile for the product; it's versatile and works with the skin rather than trying to eradicate your body's natural workings.

This beautiful product, inspired by Keats' poem, Endymion, is perhaps the perfect facial moisturiser I have ever used. It tones, hydrates and rejuvenates tired, dry and oily skin whilst leaving an uplifting fruity scent. This will be a product I return to again and again, and one that will become a staple in my house.

If you're planning on trying out one of Lush's moisturisers, make it this one; you won't be disappointed.

  1. Hi Jen! I am really lost on buying a good face cream from LUSH. I have skin that is bumpy and and uneven, and I really want to fix that. You seem like the LUSH expert, so I need your advice. Vanishing Cream, Imperialis, or Enzymion? I already have Celestial, but I feel that it hasn't been working for me as much as I'd like it to. Thanks a ton!

    1. Hi there - thank you so much for visiting my blog! Unfortunately, I have not tried Vanishing Cream or Imperialis (although the latter is next on my list of cleansers to try). What I can say about Enzymion is that it smells absolutely beautiful and made my complexion look and feel amazing. It really clears your skin and is so light on your skin, you don't feel clogged up or greasy. Furthermore, it makes your skin feel really radiant and rejuvenated; I couldn't recommend this one further. That's not to say that the other two aren't as good, if not better, however, I can only comment on my experience :) Why not ask your local lush for a sampler of each and test them before investing in a pot? Let me know how you got on :)

  3. I've just bought a pot of Enzymion after reading about it here. I do have oily skin, and at the moment I'm using Vanishing Cream, but I don't feel that it does anything with my skin. I also have problem skin, so I figured I should try Vanishing Cream first because its designed to get rid of acne etc, but so far it have just brought me more acne, ugh. I refuse to give up on moisturizers from Lush yet, so I'm very excited to try Enzymion! Just hope it works. Thanks for the tip!

    1. Wow - I really hope it works for you - you'll have to keep me updated :) Although I don't suffer from acne, I am prone to a few spots - This cream kept them at bay and left my skin feeling and looking radiant - I hope it does the same for you :)

  4. I picked up a sample of Enzymion last week and I have to say that its scent reminds me of the massage bars, probably wiccy wiccy. Not sure if I'm the only one who picks up on that. I do have acne-pronce, oily skin. I've been using vanishing cream for about a month now and I'm now noticing my face has cleared up and has smoothed down. I still have my scarring and discoloration, but that can all be covered up with foundation. I do recommend trying out this moisturizer to anyone with skin like mine, as long as you're willing to give it time to work its magic. Buying it from the UK site is cheaper, even with shipping, it comes out to less than $30 USD. It's very much worth the investment. I think I should also mention that I've been washing my face every night with Outback Mate (sometimes I exfoliate first with Porridge) and as soon as I'm out the shower and in my room, I apply vanishing cream. I don't let my fingers touch anything else before applying my moisturizer. This way my fingers are clean when entering the pot and when touching my face.In the mornings, I'll wipe down with a baby wipe and then apply magical moringa. It's a perfect moisturizer/ primer for my makeup. Hope this helps can help someone out!

  5. I have tried Vanishing Cream, Enzymion and Imperialis, so hopefully this helps: if your skin is straight-up oily and you are not too concerned with sensitivity or breakouts, go for Enzymion. The citrus juices really brighten up the complexion but may be a bit too 'stimulating' for sensitive skin. Vanishing Cream is the only cocoa butter-free offering from Lush, so it is less likely to clog pores. Being formulated on base of rose and lavender, it is very soothing. If you have breakouts or sensitive combi or oily skin, I highly reccommend it. Imperialis is thin in texture, but pretty potent in hydrating power. My skin is currently a bit shiny on my nose, but is very dry everywhere else, and Imperialis is my favourite right now. - love, Karen
