Silky Underwear Liquid Perfume

As a serious Lush collector and loyal fan with slightly obsessive compulsive traits, I have made it my mission to obtain every single Lush perfume that they have ever released. To some, this may sound like a crazy notion, to others it may sound impossible; but for me, it's a challenge I am looking forward to completing.

When I look back at the forum specials over the years, I am slightly envious of Lush fans who were around during the 2005 - 2007 releases. There are so many amazing fragrances that were brought out during these first few years - ones that only made an appearance for a single year and have never shown their heads again.

Although Silky Underwear is not one of these single-release products, it's still a notoriously difficult perfume to get a-hold of. After months of perseverance, I managed to acquire not one but two bottles of the fragrance, and was really excited to try it out for the first time.

For anyone who's not a fan of jasmine, I don't think there's any reason for you to continue reading this review, as this will definitely not be the product for you. Advertised as possessing a jasmine and vetivert scent, it's definitely a perfume dominated by it's leading notes. Although I'd describe it as more 'vanilla and jasmine', it's the latter ingredient that does the most work here. It's a sexy, lightly floral but rather sophisticated fragrance that shares it's aroma with the dusting powder of the same name, as well as Alkmaar Soap, All That Jas Ballistic and more recently, Fairy Ring Soap

This perfume is a very gentle one; showcasing the light floral properties of jasmine with the sweetness of fresh vanilla. There are earthy elements of vetivert that can only be detected very slightly when the perfume is in the bottle, but a few hours on your skin and you can definitely make out it's natural smokiness coming through.

Aromatherapists consider vetivert oil to be aphrodisiac, grounding, soothing and sedative. It is also used as a fixative for perfume blends, which means it holds onto other fragrances that it has been blended with and releases them slowly. I can definitely see how this ingredient helps to mature this fragrance over the space of a few hours, which is lovely.

Silky Underwear is a perfume that has a youthful feel about it. However, I can't imagine it appealing to teenagers or younger consumers. It is a sultry, sexy fragrance that also possesses elements of a more mature scent, making it perfect for those in their late 20's/30's; those who are looking for something a little more sophisticated but something that isn't too 'old' for them. In a way, this perfume has a very, very slight resemblance to Big Perfume, not because of it's actual smell, but more due to the way that it gives off that sexy and provocative scent whilst retaining a clean, crisp edge to it that works perfectly in the summer months.

Although it's not my favourite perfume in the entire world, it is definitely one I will go back to again and again. It's a fragrance that acts as a collation between the sweeter, more playful scents and the overbearing, highly floral older scents. A perfect perfume to transition between younger and older consumers.

The scent lasts for ages on your skin, and I was even able to detect hints of Silky Underwear the following day, which was lovely. It's subtle fragrance, but one that has enough lasting power to withstand the test of time.

    1. Lush have always released special forum perfumes around this time every year. Given that Fairy Ring Soap was so popular, I'm hoping they re-make this perfume for all of the Silky Underwear fans. Let's keep our eyes peeled!

  2. I like this one alot, it's very true to the dusting powder and Alkmaar soap. I find some of the LUSH jasmines too stinky (Lust or Flying Fox) but Silky Underwear is perfection! Let's hope it comes back so that we can stock up!

  3. I completely agree Lisa! Silky Underware has the perfect amount of jasmine, all others are just too much. I really think this particular perfume needs to be in stores all year round! :)
