SOS Solid Shampoo Bar

While my veganism has given me an incredibly strong immune system; an abundance of energy; and a strength that has served me so well in recent months, the one aspect of my life that I struggle with is the condition of my hair. No matter how many supplement I take, how well I eat and take care of myself, nothing seems to want to help my hair to improve, grow or thicken.

For this reason, I am so careful when choosing and using products to wash or condition my hair with. One wrong slip and it could be disastrous for me. While I trust Lush over any other brand on the market, I am still always dubious of putting my hair through yet another change, which is why I was slightly nervous to try the new Lush Summit exclusive, when it arrived through my front door.

Aptly named SOS, this solid shampoo bar has a fitting name for someone in desperate need of a cure for dry, lifeless hair. As if this wasn't enough to entice me, the inclusion of one of my favourite ingredients: patchouli, was also an incentive for me to take this immediately into the shower with me.

One of the key ingredients here, which sets this bar apart from all of Lush's other solid hair care, is the inclusion of moringa seed powder from Ghana. A recent emphasis from Lush on the benefits of this component in cosmetics suggests that this will not be the last time we see the name in their products, and rightly so. Known for its ability to purify water through the removal of pollution, this ingredient is one of the reasons why my hair felt instantly beautiful after using this bar.

As I do with all of Lush's shampoos, I tested this out without using a conditioner afterwards, and found that SOS removes frizziness without making your hair appear flat; and it leaves your locks feeling clean and soft enough that you would assume there was cocoa butter in the bar when there isn't. Furthermore, my hair felt really light, without feeling wispy, so I can imagine being able to use this every day without it being too heavy on locks.

While the scent didn't linger around much after I had rinsed the shampoo out of my hair, the results stayed with me a full two days after usage, and that doesn't happen to me very often when it comes to hair care. Furthermore, the bar lathered up super generously and I was able to stimulate enough foam to coat my entire head in less than two seconds after massaging between my hands.

Scent wise, this is definitely for fans of Blue Skies And Fluffy White Clouds. While there is no frankincense present here, it definitely has a dry, earthy pachouli smell as opposed to the more spicy renditions you find in Rentless or the the more fruity variations you get in Karma-scented products. Having said that, this bar is not overly strong in fragrance, so those who aren't huge fans of any of the above smells, may still enjoy the results of this bar without having to worry about being opposed to the smell.

Ultimately, I feel comfortable enough, and have enough faith, that SOS will last me a good three to four months while I am travelling abroad. Hopefully, as the name suggests, this bar will revamp the condition of my hair a little, and bring some life into the only area of my life where there isn't any.
