Do you work for Lush?
I get asked this an awful lot. In simple terms, no. I am not affiliated with them at all, just a really big fan who invests a lot of money and effort into their company. As a joke, I often say that I actually work for them unofficially, as I do give them a lot of publicity because of my blog, Youtube and Instagram pages.
How can you spend so much on Lush?
This is the second most common question I get asked. The answer is simple - I don't have many other hobbies that require me to spend any money, so I have more freedom to buy Lush. I work extremely hard for my money, and I'm lucky enough that my outcome is a lot smaller than my income. Win win situation!
You spend too much money on Lush.
This isn't so much a question, more of a statement. And if I didn't receive a comment like this at least once a day, I would think there was something wrong with the world. As I have said time and time again - I don't have to justify to anyone what I spend my money on, nor how much I spend on a weekly/monthly basis. I work for every penny I get so I have the freedom to indulge myself however I see fit. Please also remember that what people see of me is only a small snippet of my life. Therefore, judgements on how I manage my time and whether or not I support charities is irrelevant - you simply do not know enough to make those assumptions.
Hair
What type of hair do you have?
My hair is quite thin but with a slight wave going through. It can get quite dry, flat but rather frizzy if it's not treated correctly. Although I have been a brunette for the most part of five years, my natural colour is a very dark blonde with natural red highlights throughout.
What is your hair routine?
My hair is the one part of my body that I have to take extreme caution with. As I have dyed my hair for the last 15, it has definitely become thinner and lost some of its shine. For this reason, I can't afford to be using products that will remove any of the moisture that it retains, nor anything that will set off the 'frizz'. I swear by Lush's solid shampoo range, so will normally alternate between Brazilliant, Hairy Mcclairy, Copperhead or Waves - although I would live on a diet of Irresistible Bliss if it was readily available. For conditioners, I tend to use Avocado Cowash two times a week and then Happy Happy Joy Joy for my third and final wash.
For treatments I will use Jasmine & Henna Fluff Ease bi-monthly and then half of a Damaged Hot Hair Treatment once a month.
Skin
What type of skin do you have?
My skin type is what I would consider, straight-down-the-line normal. While I do occasionally get a few dry patches on my face, this happens seldomly and usually when I have a cold.
What's your facial skincare routine?
As a teacher who leaves the house at 6am every morning, my skincare has to be something I manage quickly but one that is effective. My staple product is 9 to 5, which I use to remove my make up every evening and use as a quick 'wipe down' after my morning shower. In the shower, my go-to cleanser is Buche De Noel, which I'll stock up on and freeze throughout the year. If I run out, I'll use Angels on Bare Faces Cleanser.
Once out of the shower, I'll wipe my face down with 9 to 5 and then use either Enzymion or Almond Kisses to moisturise my face. Although Enzymion is aimed more at those with oiler complexions, I find it works really well at getting my complexion to look and feel really radiant, and it's so light so it won't clog up your pores.
Next I spritz my face with either Breath Of Fresh Air or Breeze On The Sea Air Toner waters and leave it for a few minutes to soak in before applying my make-up. I also treat my face to a weekly face mask, where I used either Catastrophe Cosmetic or Oatfix.
Bath/Shower
What are your favourite regular bath bombs?
Dragon's Egg for if I need something sweet, fresh and colourful to cheer me up; Avobath if want something super citrusy and refreshing to awaken my sense; Twilight for when I need something that's going to relax me and help me to sleep; Phoenix Rising for when I need something comforting - I tend to use this more in the colder months of the year.
What are your favourite regular bubble bars?
The Comforter as it's so fruity and sweet and makes the bath water so velvety soft; The Brightside as it has a wonderful sugary citrus aroma that reminds me of lemon sherbet; Yuzu and Cocoa is so comforting but it's also really light and refreshing - it really is a tropical experience in the bath; Pop In The Bath shares it's scent with The Olive Branch and just offers something so different from anything else that I've tried before.

Just wanted to let you know that toners are meant to be put on before your moisturizer... they're meant to help your serum and/or moisturizer absorb more effectively. If you spritz your face after, your moisturizer will have created a barrier and the toner won't really do much at all for your skin.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, just wondering what is this?
