Smuggler's Soul Body Spray

I am very interested to know how Lush decide which of their perfumes to convert into body sprays. Given that they've recently begun bringing out all of their fragrances in solid form, I'm surprised they haven't done the same with their spritzers. As far as my knowledge goes, Lush have only ever sold a handful of scents in this format; Dirty, Dad's Garden Lemon Tree, Smuggler's Soul and Go Green. That is it.

I cannot imagine it being any more expensive to produce these sprays, as all Lush are technically doing is 'watering down' and 'padding out' a fragrance. The only reason I can imagine it being problematic, is when particular ingredients in certain perfumes make the cost of a 200ml bottle too high to be justified in a retail sense. I only ask because I can imagine the likes of Big, Ponche, Honey I Washed The Kids and Twilight would be incredible in spray-format.

Having said all of the above, I am very grateful that Lush have chosen to release Smuggler's Soul in this format. This scent has become a firm favourite of mine over the last few weeks and I am already envisaging other products that Lush could make using this fragrance (bubble bar, anyone?).

Much like both the liquid and solid editions of this perfume, the spray showcases two different types of sandalwood - both of which add a strong, smokey note to the fragrance. In the bottle, you're not able to pick out much of this sandalwood as it's dominated by the uplifting smell of the lemongrass combined with the sickly sweet aroma of tagetes. However, as soon as you spray Smuggler's Soul onto your skin, you can appreciate the rich, woody multi-layered aroma that I've grown to love.
Alongside the smokiness of the wood, there is a definite layer of both vetivert and tagetes, which combined give this perfume a naturally sweet and slightly floral smell. The sandalwood compliments these two ingredients wonderfully - giving the perfume a far deeper and warmer aroma without being too intoxicating. The lemongrass is still very much present on the skin but it isn't as acidic as it is in the bottle, and instead enriches the perfume with it's fresh, uplifting and slightly grassy-green scent.

What I love about Smuggler's Soul Body Spray, as with the liquid perfume, is that the scent continues to develop long after you've applied it to the skin. Within twenty minutes or so, I noticed that the woody notes had begun to disperse a little whilst the other layers remained vibrant and very much present. It's such a warm, comforting yet refreshing scent that reminds me of summer.

What is great about this format is that one spray from the bottle is enough to cover both wrists and the neck with surplus left over. You can really bask in the beauty of this fragrance without feeling like you're using too much at once. For this reason, you get a stronger, more pronounced experience with this spray than you do the perfume.

Much like the liquid variation, this body spray is surprisingly long-lasting on the skin and I could still smell remnants of this some 6-7 hours after I initially sprayed the product. For this reason, the body spray is actually more successful than the perfume and cheaper to boot. Priced at £20 for a 200ml bottle, this is a steal in my book. You won't find a body spray that offers that much coverage while giving you such a wonderfully rich and beautifully crafted experience.

Smuggler's Soul Body Spray is incredible and one I will not be without. It's refreshing, it's uplifting and it's incredibly sexy. A firm favourite in my book.
