Snow Fairy Solid Perfume

Sometimes I worry that I sound like a broken record to outsiders - that my readers see me as predictable, and can almost guess what each and every review is going to spell out before I've even written it myself. Yet whether or not this is the case, I assure you that I do take each and every new product at face value to begin with. I never let preconceptions or prejudices distort first impressions, and I do consider products as objectively as I possibly can, given that I'm such a 'fan girl' for the brand anyway.

Having secured an old tin of Snow Fairy Solid Perfume a few years back, my first impressions weren't all that positive, hence why I wasn't keen on publishing a review of the product until I had acquired a fresh one to compare it to. As most of you will know, I am not really an advocate of this scent family, unless it's the original shower gel or the most recent version of Fairy Dust, that came out during the Christmas season last year. I find the scent in other formats to be rather watered-down - the weak, candy aroma just not boding well with my senses, or my love of more complex, interesting smells.
However, I was surprised to discover that I actually enjoyed the fragrance of this solid perfume, and I was encouraged to wear it multiple days after three different people commented on the 'lovely smell' that was radiating from myself at the time.

As you would expect from the solid perfume, the fragrance you get once you remove the lid of the tub is a juicy, sugary raspberry bubblegum smell. The synthetic musk combines with the fruity components (kept secret under the blanket of 'perfume' in the ingredients list) and creates a sickly-sweet smell that reminds me of pink pear drops and old-fashioned bubblegum.

How this sits above most other products in the Snow Fairy family is that it mimics the rich, velvety-smooth scent of the shower gel. Whereas the bath bombs and soaps seem to lose a lot of that strong, robust candy element, this perfume encompasses everything about the fragrance that first bewitched me into buying a bottle some five years ago now.

On the skin, the perfume develops over time to create a lovely light, gentle combination of fruit and musk. While there isn't much of a change between the smell of the perfume inside the tub, and once it has been applied to the skin, this is definitely not detrimental to the overall experience of this.
I assume that most people who purchase Snow Fairy-scented products know exactly what to expect when it comes to the fragrance, so I don't think anyone would expect this solid edition to offer anything more than the simplistic, youthful aroma that it does.Furthermore, I wasn't at all surprised to discover that this perfume only lasted a couple of hours on the skin, and I found myself topping up throughout the day to see me through until home time.

Overall, I was surprised to find that I actually enjoyed this perfume a little more than I was expecting to. While it would never make any of my top ten lists, it's definitely one that I will continue to wear whenever I want a gentle pick-me-up to see me through the day.

  1. I picked this up too! I really love it, but I remember the old Snow Fairy solid perfume from back in 2008/2009 smelling a hell of a lot stronger when on the skin.

It's something nice to wear after using Snow Fairy scented products though, especially if I don't want anything heavy on throughout the day. :)
