Fairy Trumpets Bath Bomb

Based on a wild flower of the same name, Fairy Trumpets is a vibrant yellow bath bomb with pink etchings of the flower decorating the surface, to give it a lovely finish. There is something almost old-fashioned about the fragrance and design of this bath bomb that would appeal to the older generation as well as the modern day Lush connoisseur.

Containing chamomile and orange flower absolute as the key ingredients, Fairy Trumpets is floral fragrance through and through, although there is something rather rounded and almost creamy about the scent that reminds me a little of the dynamics of the Silky Underwear smell. While it doest's pertain the same aroma, there is something about both fragrances that offer a muskiness set apart from most floral aromas.

Chamomile is at the forefront of this smell: offering both a naturally sweet note and one laced with a little herbal twist as well. In fact, I think it is the chamomile that gives the impression that this is quite a calming floral scent, and despite its colour, you'd do well to use this one before bed.

Up next I was then able to detect both the orange flower absolute and the gardenia extract: both of which added their own delicate aromas alongside the chamomile. The inclusion of the rosewood oil just adds an almost resinous layer to the smell and helps to pad the aroma out so that it becomes rather cloudy and warming, rather than refreshing and light.

There is something familiar about the smell of this bath bomb, but I'm not exactly sure whether it's just similar to something else my nose has smelt before, or whether it does indeed share its scent with something else, and I just cannot inspire my brain to figure it out. Either way, I really enjoyed the smell of this one for sure.

Unfortunately, I didn't appreciate Fairy Trumpets when I get myself into the bath. Firstly, this bath bomb wasn't the most interesting to watch. It fizzed away very quickly, without leaving any coloured bath art on the surface, and left the water a rather average shade of orange. While there was an abundance of popping candy to add a little bonus effect while it was dissolving, it certainly wasn't on par with some of the other exclusive bath bombs I have tried.

Secondly, the consistency of the water was a little oily after the bath bomb had disappeared; which was great for my skin but also left quite a nasty pink stain around the edge of my bath. If there's one thing that deters me from bath bombs, it's having to scrub my tub down afterwards to remove the evidence. Not cool in the slightest.

On the positive side, the scent of this remained very much present throughout and after my bath: lingering around the house hours after I had drained the water away. Furthermore, I also discovered that the fragrance of Fairy Trumpets permeated my skin for almost the same length of time, which meant I was able to wear it almost like a perfume for a good part of the day. I'll be honest and say that I can't remember another bath bomb that has offered the same intensity as this one did.

Ultimately, my skin was left feeling very smooth, although not as nourished as some of the carrageenan-infused bath bombs have offered me in the past. I also happened to really appreciate the fragrance remaining on my skin, as it meant I was able to enjoy the smell throughout the most part of my day. However, the lack of excitement in the tub, coupled with the mess afterwards, meant that I crossed Fairy Trumpets Bath Bomb off of my list of 'ones to buys again.'
