Factory Mix-Up - It's A Date Bubble Bar

With so many exciting products being released in the Lush Kitchen at the moment, it's difficult to keep track of what smells of what. For this reason, I am often ecstatic when a bubble bar or bath bomb comes through the post pertaining a scent that I had completely forgotten about. Such is the case with this bath product.

It's A Date Bubble Bar was first released in 2002 as part of the Valentine's Day range - a stunning fluorescent pink beauty that resides above most of Lush's other bubble bars when it comes to design. Sporting what is probably the brightest demeanour I have ever seen, with only Playdoze offering it any sort of competition, this unique bar isn't just a pretty face.

While the bar is supposed to share it's scent with the popular Sugar Plum Fairy Sugar Scrub, there was a slight mix up in the Lush Kitchen on the week that it was released and a small batch of the product came with the Silky Underwear fragrance instead.

Out of the packet, this wonderful product has a fruity, coconutty fragrance - a scent that I think fans of Three Gold Rings Bubble Bar would appreciate, although that's not to say that they smell identical. It's A Date has a strong but certainly not overpowering sandalwood element to it's fragrance. It is this note that stops this bubble bar from being another generic sugary offering. Instead, the soothing sandalwood oil dilutes the sweetness of the tangerine and gives it a sensual, musky finish.

Designed to be used before a date, or indeed to entice your lover into a pre-date love-in, this bubble bar gets the heart racing as it works its magic in the bath tub. What I first noticed about It's A Date was how soft it was and how easy it was to crumble under the tab. While I would have initially put this latter point down to how fresh the product was, I have received many bubble bars from the Lush Kitchen that have been nowhere near as moist as this one.

As you can see from my video, it's very easy to crumble this bubble bar and it doesn't take long for the thick, foamy bubbles to form and multiply across the tub. As I was feeling greedy that particular day, I used the whole bubble bar for one extremely luxurious bath. Although, given the amount of bubbles that this bar heeded, you could probably half or even quarter this and use it across four separate baths.

The water turned a beautiful bright pink and even half of this bubble bar created an amass of silky, soft bubbles, which cocoon you whilst you're in the tub - leaving you feeling incredible. The various oils used here really soften and moisturise your skin whilst you're in the tub, and I found that the sweet, fruity but well-rounded scent remained on my skin for hours after I had exited the bath.

While Lush recommend that you use this as a pre-date experience, I would quite happily make this bath my only date on Valentine's Day. It's sweet enough to appeal to younger Lush fans, while sophisticated and interesting enough to attract the more mature consumers. A great bubble bar to use - I'm glad I bought a handful of these to see me through the coming months.
