Verdict:

The summer is fast approaching a distant memory for those of us living in England, if we even had one to begin with. While I clung to the 8.6 days of sunshine I was able to enjoy this year, I looked for a cocktail that would keep my spirits up and dim the disgruntled feeling that was building up in the pit of stomach.

A Day At The Beach sounded like a dream on paper and was a pleasure to concoct - a recipe that indulged in a range of fresh and citrusy products to recreate the cool, crisp feeling of being in the ocean on a hot summer's day. What is great about this cocktail is that, aside from one product, the rest are always available so you can relive this experience again and again. And indeed I shall.

First up, I crumbled an entire Bubbling Under Bubble Bar under the running tap. You can halve this if you're conserving products or opt to leave this out if you don't have any to hand. This gorgeous bubble bar is packed full of seaweed, fresh lemon oil, lavender and salt to give you an incredibly softening and rather sensual experience.

While the scent is a citrusy one, you can detect the lavender a little so it's not as zesty as you would imagine. However, it's utterly beautiful, and not only turns your water into a stunning shade of blue, but produces a surplus of bubbles and creates a very fragrant bath.

Up next was the Big Blue Bath Bomb. This shares its scent with the above bubble bar, but is perhaps slightly more lavender-oriented so it balances out the two components perfectly. As the ballistic shoots out wave after wave of blue foam, strands of seaweed explode out of the bomb and settle on the floor of the tub.

As with the bubble bar, these pieces of seaweed help to soften the water and add to the overall experience. However, if you'd rather enjoy a bath without the hassle of clearing up afterwards, you could opt to strain the products through a sieve so it collects the seaweed.

Finally, I added in half of a Floating Island Bath Melt. This has a lovely vanilla and sandalwood aroma which compliments the lemon element and adds its own burst of creaminess, which is much appreciated.

To make this experience even more enjoyable, it was suggested that I use either Life's A Beach Sugar Scrub or Rub Rub Rub Scrub. Given that I'm the queen of indulgence, I decided to use both and loved how they were both so different but both complimented the cocktail well.

Despite the fact that the rain was pelting at my window and the urge to turn on the central heating was very much present, the bath was both warming and refreshing - strong and fragrant enough to offer a comforting blanket to submerge yourself beneath, yet light enough to pay homage to those warmer days that are very quickly disappearing into obscurity.

This is easily one of my favourite bath cocktails ever - I cannot recommend it enough. I can assure you that I will be using this regularly, and only hope that Lush release some more Bubbling Under Bubble Bars so I can stock up and relive this bath until the sun peaks it's head above the clouds next year.
