Santa FUN Bar

With there already being a Snowman FUN - a product that proved very popular during last year's seasonal release, there is no wonder that Lush have chosen to bring out a Santa FUN bar to add to the collection. And much like the aforementioned product from last Christmas, this one offers a fragrance that isn't initially what you'd imagine it to be, but one that will guarantee to win you over in the end.

For me, one of the biggest surprises of this year was the discontinuation of both the Melting Snowman Bath Melt and the Christmas Eve Bubble Bar - two products that have been staple releases for at least the last five years, and both of which I thought were huge sellers, hence their repeat appearances every September.

While the bubble bar wasn't a personal favourite of mine, I was rather sad to see it go, as I would always buy a small handful of them to see me through the year. This is why I was a little relieved when I discovered that one of the new FUN bars showcased the same scent; not only could I still enjoy my fragrant floral baths, but I would now be able to enjoy the aroma in the shower as well. A double win.

After peeling back the wrapper of my fresh Santa FUN Bar, I was immediately rekindled with the wonderful aroma that I've come to associate with the winter weather. Containing a generous helping of both jasmine and ylang ylang, this bar is the very epitome of its older sibling - a gentle sweet aroma that cocoons you in cloud of heavenly flora and leaves you feeling refreshed and comforted.

Much like the bubble bar, the jasmine is definitely at the forefront here, although neither of the ingredients are particularly potent. In fact, while both the FUN and the bubble bar have a very distinctive and wonderful aroma, it was the lack of potency that initially made me dislike the bubble bar when I tried it a few years ago.

With Lush bringing out the sweet and fruity Snakes And Ladders, and the spicy/fruity Magic Of Christmas FUN, it seems only fitting that the third and final new release should be floral. It definitely makes for a change from the usual candy or cinnamon-dominated shower gels that have been at the forefront of Lush's seasonal collection for a number of years.

As with all of Lush's versatile bars, this one can be used in a variety of different ways - crumbled under the running tap to aid a bubble bath or massaged into the hair for an alternative to shampoo. No matter how you choose to use this FUN bar, the same results are always heeded; your hair and skin will feel super soft and clean, and the wonderful fragrance will linger on your body for an hour or two after you've towelled yourself down.

I tried using Santa FUN as a replacement for shower gel and discovered that it's really easy to lather up - producing a thick, creamy and very fragrant lather that leaves a subtle scent on your skin afterwards. Although things can get a little messy with your skin being painted with streaks of black, red and gold, the product does not stain the skin and leaves your body feeling really soft and smelling lovely. As this FUN bar is so generous, I'd say that you'd only need a grape-sized piece to wash your entire body with - making it great value for money and one I will definitely be buying again.

While I am still very much a shower gel addict, I really appreciate the fact that Lush have offered a number of brand new products this year that aren't limited to the bath. While this is my least favourite of the three, this is only due to my preference for the other scents - not an indication at all on the productivity of this particular product. With Santa FUN being a staple in my shower this winter, Christmas has never smelled so good.

  3. Nope that was my first santa. But I'm almost finished him and have another one wrapped up. I'll let you know.

I also have a snowman FUN and am interested to see if this happens with him aswell or was just a fluke. I though maybe they used charcoal to make it black or something.

It wasn't a horrible experience luckily I was using it as body wash in the shower, was kind of exfoliating actually. But i don't think I would want this in my bath.
