Yog Nog Body Lotion

It's not often that I am blown away by a product that I didn't think I'd be all that enamoured with, which is why I tend to go a little crazy when something pops up and makes such an immediate first impression. While I was feeling a little overwhelmed by the number of body lotions I had coming to me to review, my whole world came to a stand still when I sniffed this one for the first time.

To put it simply: Yog Nog is easily the strongest and longest lasting body lotion that Lush have ever...EVER released. Unless you have a tub in front of you, you'd have no idea just how big of a deal this limited edition beauty is to a long term Lush fanatic. In my mind, it's on par with the invention of the wheel...well, maybe.

I'll be honest when I say that I absolutely adore the Yog Nog Scent. However, there is normally a time and a place for 'foodie' type smells, and I wasn't overly convinced that I would appreciate wearing this on my skin over the space of a whole day. Needless to say, I have since discovered that I'd quite happily smell like a dessert for the rest of my life...and then some.

First making an appearance as a piece of soap during the Christmas 2014 range, this delicious, decadent treat will have you salivating from the word go. If you're a sweet tooth like myself, this will satisfy that sugary craving almost as much as something edible. Unfortunately, I should point out that this body lotion should definitely not be eaten as a snack, and I am definitely not mentioning this by way of experience.

To describe Yog Nog is like trying to condense all of the smells featured in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory in a single paragraph. There is so much to enjoy here and you really need to experience it yourself to discover it's true magic. Believe me when I say that my description does not do it the full justice it deserves, but here goes...

Yog Nog Body Lotion is like a buttery tub of rich fudge mousse with a comforting layer of cinnamon interlaced throughout. A sugary note of maple syrup adds a treacle-like richness to it - almost as if it's been drizzled over the top, while a thick, wholesomely warm layer of toffee brings all of the smells together. While you cannot smell the cocoa butter, and I wouldn't say there was anything chocolately about this fragrance, the cocoa butter definitely does make the lotion but physically thick, and bulky in how much of an aroma it gives off.

As if the smell wasn't enough to have your tongue already lolling out of your mouth, the buttery colour also adds to the allure of Yog Nog, not to mention just how thick the lotion is to use. While it does take a little while to absorb into the skin, this body lotion doesn't need much to make a big impression. A small, pea-sized serving will easily spread across a whole arm, and then some...

I didn't need to use much of this at all for my entire body, which means that a single tub is going to last me much longer than a tub of Karma Cream or Dream Cream. Given just how moisturising it is on the skin, I would also suggest that you don't use this every day, which is only going to prolong a single pot of this even longer.

Once on the skin, Yog Nog takes a good 10 minutes to fully absorb into the skin, and you'll left with a beautiful gleam that stays with you for hours. Those with drier skin will definitely find that this helps to replenish the loss of moisture, especially if you use a little on your face. Those with oiler skins may need to use this a little sparingly however, as I can imagine this could cause a few problems with the build up of butters and oils.

My mind was blown away by the fact that this body lotion was still as strong as it was in the pot, some six hours after original application. In fact, the people around me were still commenting on the fact that they could smell it across the room, hours after I had massaged it into my skin. I have honestly never had another Lush body lotion have the same impact.

Ultimately, I think this may well be my favourite body lotion to ever come out from Lush, although that's not to say that I might not. While I have never striven to become a human-sized dessert, I will happily smell like the world's greatest mousse after using this beauty. It is absolutely perfect.

  2. This is the best time to take care of this part of one's daily natual skin care routine because it takes benefit of the body moisturizer that has been absorbed by the skin during bathing.
