Goddess Hair Moisturiser

This year has certainly been the year of the Goddess and what a wonderfully empowering message that has been to hear. While in no way one of my favourite fragrances, I am extremely delighted that a smell so strong and complex as this one is getting as much love and appreciation as it has been doing.

Featuring an array of powerful ingredients, this hair moisturiser is no less intriguing or any less beautiful than the other products with the very same aroma. Sandalwood and Oudh oils work to create a very heavy, resinous smell that overall governs the most part of this, while the heady jasmine adds its own layer of sweet, intoxicating floral notes alongside the other components. As I have said in my review of the liquid perfume, this is not a smell to be messed with: it's heavy and alluring, and strong enough to represent the name it's been given. 

What I will say is that Goddess Hair Moisturiser does seem to be a little tamer than the perfume and soap, in that the scent is perhaps not as potent as you may expect it to be. Given how strong the fragrance is known for being in other formats, I assumed that once applied, this moisturiser would act as a hair perfume as well. However, I found that this Liverpool exclusive doesn't want to stick around long after application, so this may disappoint a few people to hear this. Having said that, this limited edition certainly offers an abundance of other positive properties to make this well worth the £14 you'll pay for the tub.

To use this product, it's very important to note that you should never apply this to dry hair. Having tried it out for myself, out of curiosity, I found that my hair became very sticky before hardening a short while later, leaving it feeling matted and dry and disgusting for the rest of the day.

After completing your usual routine in the shower, simply towel dry your locks and then apply a small amount into the lengths and ends of your hair. While it may not initially feel as if the product goes far, you'll discover just how well it works once your hair is fully dried, so try not to overindulge by adding too much product as it will just be wasted. As it's so thick, a small amount goes a long way, so tread carefully...

As soon as my hair was fully dried, I wouldn't believe how shiny, manageable and ultimately hydrated my locks felt. The inclusion of the coconut oil just added so much vibrancy, whilst the jojoba served to make my hair look and feel super nourished. After running through my hair multiple times, I couldn't believe how much this product had transformed my hair in just a matter of minutes. While not a permanent solution by any means, Goddess definitely offers you a quick fix to beautifully smooth and stronger hair, and I have been using it religiously ever since.

Despite the hefty price tag, I have found myself using this product in such small amounts that my 100g tub has lasted me almost a month with daily use. While I foresee myself finishing this product within the next couple of weeks, I still think an average of £7 a month for a product that works so well is great value for money. As many people would only use this once or twice a week, your 100g tub would probably last much longer.

My only qualms with Goddess Hair Moisturiser is that the fragrance is too weak to hold itself on my locks after application, which would have made this an all-round perfect product if it was able to do so. Given how strong other versions of this scent are, I thought that would have been a given, but I was sorely wrong.

Frangipani Glove Hand Serum

If there is one part of my body that suffers the most, it is my hands. Having to endure seven days of hard grafting at work, as well as then having to lift increasingly heavy weights seven days a week at the gym, my poor little mitts are just about done by the end of the day. Endless pots and tubes of hand creams later and the skin on my palms is still as cracked and as weathered as an old house. It would have to take something miraculously to bleed some life back into these tired hands.

Bring forth Frangipani Glove Hand Serum: a product that certainly didn't inspire me to get that excited when Lush first announced that it was coming out. Even when the oval shaped disc of oils and butters appeared on my doorstep, I still wasn't interested enough to start using it right away. Silly really, given that the results it did heed now leave me wishing I'd bought a hundred more before they disappeared from the website. 

Described as a hand serum, Frangipani is ultimately a little like a massage bar for the hands, and works in a slightly different way to that of a cream. With quite a number of hand creams, you often need to massage the product quite rigorously into your skin and then wait for it to fully absorb before you can carry on about your day. This hand serum works a little differently, and is ultimately more successful.

You only need to massage for a split second between your palms for the product to begin melting and heed enough oils for you to use on your skin. Frangipani melts extremely easily so I would recommend that you store it somewhere cool in between uses, and try not to hold it too long either, as the bar will shrink far quicker than you would want it to.

Once the product is on the skin, you simply need to spread the oils out across every area of your skin and the work has been done. Instead of the oily, greasy feel that you may experience with creams and lotions, this hand serum dries into a powdered finish so you can get back into whatever it was you were doing mere seconds before you applied the serum. 

What is amazing about Frangipani is that I was not expecting the product to make that much of an impression on my skin, and I instead found that my hands felt instantly hydrated, smooth and far more moisturised after only a matter of seconds. Before and after my gym sessions, I have been applying this hand serum religiously, and have found that I rarely develop any areas of dry skin, whereas beforehand I would have areas that felt constantly dry and hard, no matter how hard I tried to rectify this.

After using this daily for a couple of weeks, I also found that the areas around my nails, as well as the cuticles themselves, were far softer and smoother, and I had less 'flaking' of skin as I had done previously. Featuring almond milk and castor oil to help form a protective barrier across my skin, and witch hazel extract to soothe and tone, this limited edition is definitely a miracle in my eyes. 

Fragrance wise, Lush describe this as being rather fruity, with both sandalwood and tuberose underneath to add both woody and floral tones. To my nose, I'd describe the scent of this to be more on the warming but gentle floral side, although I do agree that there is something delicately woody about the aroma as well.

Although I didn't find that the fragrance of Frangipani lasted all too long on my hands, the intensity of which it improved the condition on my skin, and in such a short space of time, means that this is a product I have integrated into my regular routine. Carrying it around in one of Lush's silver tins has been a godsend for me whilst at work, and I've also taken it with me on board a couple of plane rides, where I've used it as a facial serum as well, with positive results.  

Having used my bar consistently, multiple times a day for almost a month, I can safely say that a bar of this hand serum will easily last another couple of months, making this great value for money. In my opinion, this is easily the greatest hand product that Lush have ever made and I only hope it becomes a permanent in the near future. This is one that I will definitely buy again.

Argan Dragon Shower Oil (2019 Version)

There's always a small part of me that wonders why Lush occasionally changes the fragrance of something, even when it seems as if the original product was popular enough to begin with. Not that I'm complaining, as this particular scent swap is a welcome alteration, but I'd love to know the motivation behind some of these changes.

Argan Dragon was first released at the Showcase event last year, and was one of many brand new shower oils to make themselves known to the community. A fairly new concept at the time, many fans were simply excited that the product happened to sport the Snow Fairy fragrance, and for this reason alone, it proved to be one of the most popular naked oils from the collection.

Fast forward to 2019 and Argan Dragon made a reappearance; this time offering fans of the Happy Bloomin' fragrance another product to enjoy in this scent family. Yet despite its obvious change of smell, the shower oil itself still pertains many of the key features that the original shower oil did.

Lush have described this shower oil as being like the cosmetic version of a superfood, and it is. Packed full of beetroot juice, dragon fruit powder and poppy seeds, this limited edition reads like a smoothie, and possesses the properties to help the skin in the same way that a smoothie would support the body.

The inclusion of dragon fruit powder gives this block a big boost of antioxidants, which not works at making your skin healthier but helps your complexion appear uplifted and perkier. Dragon fruit is also known for being rich in vitamin C, so it helps to brighten the skin as well. Alongside this, beetroot juice is a rich source of iron, vitamins and minerals that not only supports healthy skin but helps to add a wonderful glow to your complexion as well. 

Argan Dragon also contains poppy seeds, which you can see under the surface of the product itself. These beauties soothe the skin and and calm any itchiness that you may have from rashes or irritations. The seeds are also known to act as an effective painkiller by relieving the pain caused by skin inflammation. While I don't think there are enough present in this block to do much in the way of this, it cannot not help those with skin that need a little tender loving care.

Unlike the original, this updated product now contains peach kernel oil which helps to deliver the wonderful cherry-scented fragrance that the shower oil offers. Super sweet and very fruity, the Happy Bloomin' scent is in full force here; like the glazed cherry topping on a cheesecake; or as I have said in previous reviews, like the smell of Cherry Drops. It's rich and very sultry to my nose: far more like a decadent dessert than a weak, synthetic cherry smell that you sometimes get with cheaper cosmetics.

How to use a shower oil is down to personal preference, although I have tried a few variations and have discovered the way that works best for me. Much like a body butter, I tend to find that these beauties work better at the end of your shower/bath, when your skin is clean and ready to be moisturised.

Ensure your skin is damp and then step out of the way of the running water. Massage the bar gently, in a circular motion, across the areas of your body that you wish to moisturise. Try not to apply too much pressure as the shower oils are very generous, and I just feel that you'd coat your skin with too much oil and use up the block far quicker this way.

What you will find is that the shower oils will leave a light layer of oils on your skin, which you can then use you hands to massage even deeper into your skin. Unlike a body butter or a body conditioner, the oils are not at all greasy, nor do they feel at all heavy. Instead, it feels and looks as if you've applied a little baby oil to your skin.

This new version of Argan Dragon worked on par with the original: acting very generous on my skin, and melting with ease to create a gentle coating of oils and butters that I was able to massage across my body. My skin felt instantly nourished and looked and felt soft and moisturised for the rest of the day. Not only that but the scent remained very much present on my skin for a good couple of hours after application, and more than anything, it made me wish there was a body spray to match.

There's a reason why this particular product was one of the first to sell out from the Lush Labs. It offers a wonderfully nourishing experience; is great value for money and outlasts that of a tub of body lotion; stores really easily between uses because it dries super quickly; and leaves a wonderful fragrance on your skin for you to enjoy throughout the day. Simply beautiful!
