Snow Fairy Soap

A Christmas period without an abundance of Snow Fairy would almost be the the same as having a birthday party without cake: it just wouldn't feel right. Yet that's not to say that us long-term Lush fans always appreciate the number of products that saturate the seasonal range every year. I'll be honest and say that there hasn't been a Snow Fairy scented product that has ever excited me as much as the original shower gel, and there hasn't ever been a Snow Fairy release that has made me want to buy more than the initial one I've invested in, aside from the potted body conditioner.

Yet this year Lush have decided that the millions of sickly candy-scented products wouldn't be complete without a soap to join their ranks. Last year's cold-pressed version wasn't obviously in agreement with a large percentage of consumers, so this year's rendition is a hexagonal block of bright pink goodness.

Sharing it's design with one of last year's bath bombs, this pink block of solid oils looks like the Barbie version of a snowflake. Yet a difference that I noticed straight away with the fragrance of this was that the inclusion of the marshmallow root seems to give this soap an almost extra powdery note on top of the usual sickly sweet scents that you would expect.

For those who have never tried Snow Fairy, this is easily Lush's most commercial and also their most synthetic fragrance that they have ever produced. You wouldn't be hard-pressed to find something similar to this smell in your regular high street stores: which is why many new Lush fans find themselves hooked on this scent family first.

As I have described in the million and one other reviews of Snow Fairy smelling cosmetics, the scent of this soap is like a playful, youthful candy floss aroma, with hints of raspberry bubblegum and synthetic vanilla alongside this. While the smell is very intense and does last a while on the skin, I wouldn't ever say that this fragrance was particularly complex or interesting.

What I found promising with this soap rendition is that it lathers up wit ease under the running water, and it didn't take more than a matter of seconds to produce enough foam to clean my entire body with. However, because it is rather generous, the block tends to shrink fairly quickly, and I found that after using it for the first week - even when I made a conscious effort to keep it away from too much water - that the a good third of the bar had been used. 

Although I'm only estimating a time frame, I can imagine a 250g bottle of the original shower gel lasting almost quadruple the amount of time that one of these Snow Fairy soaps would last me, and I happen to think that the smell of the shower gel is far better, and far more robust, than what this soap has offered me recently. 

As with most soaps I have tried from Lush, Snow Fairy isn't exactly the most moisturising on my skin, and I did need to moisturise afterwards in order to retain the moisture in my skin. Luckily, Lush have re-released their body conditioner this year so I was able to use that to restore some of the missing moisture. However, this is not something I would usually need to worry about with any of their shower gels and jellies. 

Therefore, if you're in love with the Snow Fairy scent, you will probably appreciate that Lush have created another format to get your eager hands on. However, if you're not particularly bothered by this fragrance family, you may wish to choose an alternative product to try, or stick with the shower gel if you fancy something sweet, but something that is equally moisturising. 

As a stocking filler, this would make a nice little gift, as it looks rather lovely and does have a pretty smell to enjoy. However, the speed in which the soap shrinks; and the lack of moisture that it leaves on your skin afterwards, means that this is not something I would advocate buying many of.

Good Day Sunshine Soap

Whether it was because I'd only recently watched the film with my class, or because the movie has been such a huge hit over the last couple of years, but when I first saw the design of this soap, it immediately reminded me of the Disney classic, Moana. And yes, that song popped straight into my head from that moment onwards and remained there for the rest of the day.

Good Day Sunshine Soap is one of two brand new soaps to have been added to the regular line recently: initially exclusives for Liverpool but obviously popular enough to have made it into the mainstream. Both Good Day Sunshine and Michelle Ma Belle also happen to be half of a four-piece soap collection influenced by the Beatles, and I only hope that I can get my hands on the other variations in the near future.

What attracted me to this soap was not only its gorgeous bright orange colour, and the fact that the yellow sun design on the front looks like something out of a Mayan engraving, but the fact that it shares its scent with one of my all time favourite bath bombs: Cheer Up Buttercup. If there is one scent that will float your boat this summer, this fragrance is definitely it.

Containing a strong dosage of both lemon, lime and neroli, this gorgeous soap offers a bright, fruity and very refreshing citrusy smell. Yet strangely, the smell that comes out the most here is one of fresh orange juice, with the other elements sitting directly underneath and adding spritzy, uplifting fruity base-notes.

What I loved the most about the smell of this soap however, was the heavy dosage of neroli that came forth as soon as I began using this in the shower. Although far more subtle in the bath bomb format, the green notes of the neroli really bring out a sharp tang to the citrusy notes, and together these ingredients create something that isn't far off the smell of a freshly peeled orange, with the outer skin still attached. Good Day Sunshine is super fresh and fruity and perhaps the perfect scent for the warmer weather that we are experiencing right now.

What is unique about this piece of soap is that the yellow design on the surface has actually been dusted with sodium bicarbonate. This means that the first time you use this soap, the surface fizzes up like a bath bomb and the foam adds a slight tingle to your skin whilst you're washing your body. After the first time, there isn't much left to experience it again. However, it's a nice little touch that gives this soap something a little different to enjoy.  

Lush's statement about this soap is: the dazzling orange, vegan aquafaba base offers notes of sparkling lemon myrtle, zesty lime and uplifting neroli to flip your mood sunny side up, while exfoliating chia seeds offer a delicate polish that leaves skin feeling soft and bright enough to rival the sun. While I wasn't able to see the chia seeds in action, my skin did feel really soft afterwards, so I assume that this was the work of the hidden ingredient. 

What I will say about Good Day Sunshine is that the soap tends to lather up really well the first time but then tends to only produce a sort of thin, orange liquid consecutive uses afterwards. This is not a soap that foams up all that easily. Having said that, I found that the orange 'lather' was very easy to spread across my body and I didn't need to massage the soap for more than a few seconds to produce enough 'soap' to apply to my entire body.

This meant that I was able to place Good Day Sunshine away from the water fairly quickly and preserve as much of the soap as I possibly could. As the soap dried in a fairly moderate amount of time, my piece barely shrunk after using it for a week straight and I can safely say that this should last as long as a regular piece of soap would. Despite this, if you're someone who is less conscious of how much you're using, you may find that this soap shrinks a lot quicker than regular soaps, and this is when the £7 price tag may seem a little excessive.

Once I had rinsed the suds from my skin and relished in the delicious fruity smell that had engulfed my entire bathroom, I was really impressed to discover that the fragrance of this soap also lingered on my skin quite heavily. After towelling myself down, I was able to detect both the fruity element and the green-like undertone quite strongly on my body and my hair, and this stayed with me for a good couple of hours afterwards. 

As if this wasn't enough, my skin also felt really soft and smooth and refreshed, and there was a radiance across my hands and legs that I associate with all of the wonderful citrus oils that are present in the ingredients. If anything, using Good Day Sunshine just reaffirmed why Cheer Up Buttercup is one of my all-time favourite bath bombs, and why I love this scent an awful lot.

While I am grateful that Lush have brought this out as a regular item, it does make me wish that the company would bring out a shower gel, body lotion or body spray in the same fragrance, as that would be simply sublime. Inspired by an iconic band, this soap had a lot to live up to and I honestly think that they have matched that expectation perfectly. This is a wonderful addition to any bathroom and I shall be using this all summer to match the sunshine outside.

Zephyrus Mouthwash Tabs

Despite being in the house by myself, the urge to have a one-person party was incredibly tempting after I found myself close to finishing this review. After nearly a month of constantly blogging and twenty different tooth/mouthwash tabs to work my way through, to have finished them all was a feeling worth celebrating, in my eyes. While these weren't my favourite mouthwash tabs by any means, Zephyrus were definitely a good choice to end up with last. 

Having already experienced the intensity of Supherb Toothy Tabs, I mistakenly left these little mouthwash tabs to last, only because they were a similar colour and therefore (I thought) a similar flavour. As it turned out, these mouthwash tabs couldn't have been further from the taste of the aforementioned toothy tabs and what I was left to finish with was something super fresh and naturally very beautiful. 

Containing Sicilian lemon and basil oils, the little green diamonds give off a wonderfully rich herbal smell, with a big dosage of lemon that rounds the fragrance off with a big bang. To my nose, the smell reminds me of a fresh lemonade that's been packed full of fresh basil leaves: it's crisp, refreshing and utterly gorgeous!

When popping one of these into your mouth, it takes mere seconds for a very intense but equally beautiful flavour to engulf your senses. The lemon oil brings about a bright, fruity element to the taste, which for a second or so is slightly bitter before it sweetens and settles in your mouth. Alongside this, the fresh taste of basil wraps around your tongue and offers a very natural herbal taste that compliments the lemon perfectly. I would never have envisaged that these two components would work well together as a mouthwash but they do, and they leave your mouth feeling really clean and fresh on top of this.

To use a solid mouth wash tab, you simply crunch the tab between your teeth, take a slurp of water and begin swishing. Once you've finished, you then spit the water into the sink and your whole mouth should feel super clean and refreshed: ready to brace the rest of the day without worrying about smelly breath or food from your lunch remaining stuck between your teeth. It's recommended that you keep the mouthwash in your mouth for a good minute. This allows the ingredients to get to work at cleaning the mouth and deodorising the tongue so you get the maximum results possible.  

As you would expect from Lush, the ingredients that have gone into making all three of the mouthwash varieties have also been carefully crafted and serve a purpose. Firstly, they all contain sodium bicarbonate, which is a natural softening ingredient that is also known for its ability to clean and deodorise at the same time. This is a key component that will help to clean your tongue, gums and teeth when you're swishing, and will help to rid your mouth of any strong odours that might be present at the time, freshening your breath in the process.

Each of the mouthwashes also contains xylitol - a natural substance that is found in certain fruits and vegetables and is used in foods and cosmetics as a refined sweetener. This ingredient has been proven to cause none of the harmful effects that sugar can have on the teeth, is perfect for diabetics as it doesn't effect blood sugar levels at all, yet offers the sweetness to help give these tabs their interesting but enjoyable flavours.

Sometimes Lush surprise me with their pairings and I honestly couldn't get enough of the Zephyrus Mouthwash Tabs. They clean your mouth out thoroughly, without burning your tongue or bringing about too much flavour; they leave your teeth feeling really shiny and clean; and they leave you with the cleanest breath I have experienced in a while.

Ultimately, these are definitely one of my favourite combinations from Lush and I would buy these again if I ever ran out. Perfect for the summer months, these little beauties would be great to slip in your bag when you're out enjoying a picnic. Not only would they leave your mouth and breath feeling super clean, but they wouldn't take away from the fresh feast you were enjoying at the time. Zephyrus are one of my favourite mouthwash tabs that Lush have ever created and they need to be made available for everybody.

Super Milk Conditioning Spray

I cannot remember a time when my hair has ever felt truly nourished, at least not for more than a day or two, and never without the aid of a product to make it so. No matter how much was I drink or how well I look after my hair, the ends always feel like a bird's nest and the rest of my locks could cut through skin it's so rough. With the recent collection of new Lush hair products however, I finally feel as if I'm getting somewhere...

Super Milk Conditioning Spray is one of Lush's most recent inventions: a combination of ingredients that promise to not only add some much-needed moisture into your locks, but also help to protect the hair against breakage; add strength and shine; and even offer a barrier against heat of both a hairdryer and straighteners.

Priced up at £15, there are three main ingredients at work here: almond milk, coconut milk and oat milk. These three essential components all work on improving the condition of your hair in their own unique way. Coconut milk is a wonderfully rich and rather fatty ingredient that helps to nourish and replenish dry hair, while the inclusion of both the almond and oat milks help to hydrate the hair and bring the life back into weak and damaged locks.

Alongside these three main components, the inclusion of both the lemon and olive oil adds a natural shine to the hair, while the litsea, tonka and vanilla absolutes give Super Milk its wonderful fragrance. At first, I was quick to assume that this Liverpool exclusive shared its scent with Avocado Cowash. However, it didn't take me long to decide that the fragrance here is far more complex and wholesome than I initially thought. While it is incredibly similar in many ways, I would be selling it short if I just claimed that the spray offered an identical smell.

To my nose, the litsea, tonka and vanilla absolutes dance together perfectly to produce a super sweet, thick and creamy fruity smell. The inclusion of the three nut milks only intensifies the scent and gives it a fluffy, nutty twist. As if this wasn't enough, there is something here that also gives off a sweet, resinous aroma that almost has a burnt caramel note. Ultimately, it is a truly gorgeous scent and one that I'm glad I get to use on my hair regularly.

What makes Super Milk so successful is all down to two ingredients: the inclusion of ethyl macadamiate, which works like a silicone (without actually being a silicone!) and protects the hair from heat and damage by coating each individual strand. Alongside this, both behentrimonium and Cetrimonium Chlorides work on conditioning the hair and leaving it feeling beautiful afterwards.

To use Super Milk, the idea is that you spray directly onto your hair after washing it in the shower and it works its magic as a leave-in conditioner. Interestingly, Lush don't specify that you should towel dry your hair beforehand so I tend to apply it straight after I've wrung out any excess water. My experience has shown that the product works really well in this manner, perhaps even more so than when my hair has been towel dried a little more.

In the bottle, the conditioning spray is rather thick and acts like a bowl of custard that's been left to cool down. Yet, it comes out of the bottle as quite a thin, milky spray, which tells me that the product is super condensed and that not very much is needed with each use. In fact, my hair is currently about 5cm past shoulder length and I find that five sprays is suffice to do the job.

Once my hair has dried, I can noticeably see and feel how soft and shiny my locks look. Without needing to brush my hair, I notice that I can run my fingers through my locks without coming across many tangles at all, and it gives my hair a great shape that I can wear down without using any other products alongside it.

As if the spray hasn't done enough already, I was also really impressed that the fragrance remained on my locks for many hours after initial application. This felt particularly amazing when it was super sunny one day and I could hear members of the public commenting on a 'stunning smell' that was lingering around the bus. I was really tempted to turn around and gush about the wonderful product that is Super Milk.

As you can imagine from my glowing review, this is definitely a hair product that I will be using regularly, and despite its size I can really imagine that my tiny little 100g bottle will last a long time. Super Milk Conditioning Spray smells absolutely delicious and works wonders at softening and hydrating your hair, with minimal effort. I would definitely recommend that you try this out for yourself.

Dragon's Temple Bauble Bath Melt

Alongside Iron Harvest, I think that this is perhaps my favourite of the four limited edition bauble bath melts that Lush brought out last Christmas. Not only does it offer a gorgeous vivid pink colour: a shade of pink in fact that I think is the most beautiful shade I have ever seen, but this bath melt also holds a gorgeous fragrance that lasts for hours on both your skin and around the bathroom.

Dragon's Temple Bauble Bath Melt unfortunately saw very little in the way of accolade when it originally came out. Appearing briefly on Instagram and then on a couple of European sites, this limited edition was quick to make an impression amongst the community, and fans couldn't wait to get their chance to purchase one for them to try. Unfortunately, this along with the other nine tablets that came out at the same time, appeared and disappeared on the website, within a matter of hours, and that was the last that we heard about them.

With a circumference roughly 7cm wide and with a thickness a little under a centimetre, this is definitely one of the biggest bath melts that Lush have ever unleashed into the world. While it is definitely a very intense experience to put the whole thing into the tub at once, I would suggest that you cut this into three or four pieces as that would make it much better value for money.

You certainly don't need to use the entire melt in one go and it would be far less messy breaking off pieces whilst its dry than hanging or storing the tablet once it's already been in the water. As the bauble tends to melt quite quickly, there is nothing particularly pretty about hanging a blob of pink butters around your room afterwards. For this reason, dividing this into four pieces would be a much better and slightly less messier way of enjoying this bauble.

Sharing its scent with Delight Bath Oil, Dragon's Temple is a bright and very fruity burst of lime, pine and black pepper: three ingredients that work in unison with each other to produce something very unique and refreshing. To my nose, the lime is the strongest component here, offering a bright but equally slightly soured fruity note. Alongside this, the pine oil brings about a fresh, slightly green-like note that sits directly under the line and intensifies the overall fragrance. 

Along with the black pepper oil, that adds a delicate but noticeable spicy kick to the aroma, the smell of this bauble is a light and very uplifting one, yet it also possesses properties to warm the body and senses at the same time. Used in the summer, the fragrance compliments the warmer weather; used in the winter and it leaves you feeling refreshed and comforted.

As with all of Lush's limited edition baubles, Dragon's Temple rests on the surface and slowly ebbs streams of vivid pink oils under and across the surface. These oils and butters tend to linger around the product at first so you have to swish it around with the piece of string to help it dissolve across the whole tub. However, I really enjoyed watching the oils create thick, colourful patterns on the surface whilst I was bathing, so I was happy to let the butters and oils dissolve in their own time. After using half of one of these baubles, I found that the water turned a wonderful shade of pink, to match the original colour of the bath melt. 

What I will say is that I could definitely detect a change in the consistency of the water and I found that my skin felt smoother and softer within minutes. After towelling myself down, I could really notice how nourished my skin looked and felt and this is something that I felt was perhaps intensified somewhat because of the size of the bath melt I was using.

Another great point about Dragon's Temple was the fact that the fragrance stayed with me throughout my entire bath and I was able to smell it quite prominently on my skin afterwards as well. These lingering notes travelled with me when I went to bed that night and I could still smell them on my pillow the next day.

If you're a fan of the Delight, you will no doubt love this rendition of the bath oil and will in fact be far happier that the scent is very much stronger and more prevalent than it is in the miniature ball. I would even go as far as to say that this bauble was far more moisturising as well, which only served to make me love it all. I would gladly buy this again if it ever became available, although the chances of this are unfortunately rather slim.

Winter's Night Bauble Bath Melt

I'm somebody who absolutely flourishes in the warmer weather and couldn't ever imagine complaining about it being too hot on any occasion. My moods are far more balanced and uplifted during the summer; my creativity is out in full force; and I just feel far more contented with myself and my surroundings when the sun is beating down. 

However, that doesn't mean for one second that I don't enjoy the polar opposite: huddled in front of an open fire trying to keep warm; wearing fifty layers just to feel my toes; and settling down every evening with a warm mug of hot chocolate. While my life perhaps isn't that poetic, these sorts of conditions are equally romantic in my mind.

For this reason, I absolutely loved the design of Winter's Night Bauble Bath Melt: one of four limited edition seasonal releases that appeared during the month of December 2018. Modelled on a Christmas decoration, the idea with this extra large bath melt is that it doubles up as a hanging feature when it's not being used. These looked rather stunning when hung from the branches of a Christmas tree, and only served to fill the room with a wonderful scent to boot.

Winter's Night was one of four bauble bath melts to appear online last year and featured a simplistic but equally detailed scene of the night sky with a couple of trees ladened with snow. While not perhaps as beautiful as some of the square tablets that were released around this time, this one was still a lovely little surprise and perhaps offered from the best fragrances from the bunch.

Sharing its scent with the Furze range, this bauble is both warming and creamy, which is perfect to indulge in when you need a little something to bring some life back into your winter-kissed skin. Featuring mimosa absolute as one of the key ingredients, this bauble bath melt has a hazy and very milky floral element to it - a discordance that hits you the minute you place the bath melt into the warm water. The scent has an almost creamy, powdery scent to it, yet there is something very floral about it as well.

Alongside this, there is also a very strong thread of both coconut and vanilla, which gives Winter's Night a sickly sweet element to it as well. The coconut was definitely very prevalent in this fragrance and I really appreciated the almost nutty component that you could smell on your skin after you exited the bath.

What I will say is that I could definitely detect a change in the consistency of the water and I found that my skin felt smoother and softer within minutes. After towelling myself down, I could really notice how nourished my skin looked and felt and this is something that I felt was perhaps intensified somewhat because of the size of the bath melt I was using.

Another great point about Winter's Night was the fact that the fragrance stayed with me throughout my entire bath and I was able to smell gentle remnants of it on my skin afterwards as well. While these lingering notes were fairly subtle, it was still a lovely way to send myself off to bed, and I truly believe that the mimosa helped me to get a better night sleep than I have done in a while.

Unfortunately, out of all of the baubles that Lush offered last Christmas, this one seemed to age the quickest and so my other half had already turned a murky brown by the time I went to use it only a month later. Having said that, it still offered the same level of scent and moisture in the bath tub, and yet again gave me another wonderful night sleep off of the back of using one of these. 

For this reason, I would definitely purchase one of these, if Lush ever choose to bring them back for sale. In fact, Winter's Night actually rekindled my appreciation for this fragrance a little more and I went straight out and purchased a tub of Salted Coconut Hand Scrub after bathing with the bauble for the first time.

Khoomei Mouthwash Tabs

Although it doesn't happen very often, there are moments when my mind goes completely blank when it comes to a familiar scent or taste. Especially when I know that a particular aroma comes from a product outside of Lush, it's near on impossible to narrow down where exactly I might have experienced it before. When it comes to Khoomei Mouthwash Tabs, I have spent near on a month trying to hunt the smell down, but to no avail as of yet...

What I will tell you about these Liverpool exclusives is that the smell they offer is near on identical to that of a regular chewing gum that you can purchase in licensed shops and supermarkets across the UK. They both smell and taste super delicious and are easily one of my favourite flavours from the extensive solid mouthwash range.

Containing lemongrass, cucumber, tea tree and spearmint, these tabs are super crisp and refreshing without being too potent, or indeed too overly minty. From the bottle, you get a sweet combination of lemongrass and spearmint, with the cucumber resting underneath, offering it's fresh and rather cooling aroma alongside the other notes. Interestingly, the lemongrass has lost quite a bit of its 'grassiness' in this format, so the smell of these tabs is a little more fruity than you might initially expect.

Alongside these notes, the inclusion of the coconut oil rounds off the smell with a delicate powdery note - which I think is what makes the fragrance of these mouthwash tabs so wonderful. You cannot actually taste the coconut at all here but its presence is definitely welcomed, and if you get a chance to try them you'll be able to recognise how this ingredient makes an impact.

Unlike many of Lush's minty oral products, Khoomei is not as potent on the senses and doesn't leave your mouth feeling at all scorched. However, what it does do is leave you with clean, fresh breath; wonderful shiny teeth; and a sweet, lemon-esque note that resides in your mouth for a good while after using one of these tabs.

As soon as you grind one of these between your teeth and add the water to rinse and swish, the wonderfully sweet, fruity and delicately minty taste fills your mouth and begins to work immediately. While all of the components I described above come out in the taste of the tab, there is nothing overwhelming about the taste of this mouthwash at all. In fact, there is something rather delicious about these little beauties that will leave you salivating (and perhaps a little hungry) afterwards.

For those who have never used a mouthwash tab before, you simply crunch the tab between your teeth (I prefer to do this with my front teeth), take a slurp of water and begin swishing as you would a bottled mouthwash. Once you've finished, you spit the water into the sink and you're ready to brace the rest of the day without worrying about smelly breath, or the food from your lunch remaining stuck between your teeth. Lush recommend that you keep the mouthwash swishing around your mouth for a good minute before spitting it out, as this allows the ingredients to get to work at cleaning the mouth and deodorising the tongue so you get the maximum results possible.

As you would expect from Lush, the ingredients that have gone into making Khoomei have also been carefully crafted and serve a purpose. Firstly, they contain sodium bicarbonate, which is a natural softening ingredient that is also known for its ability to clean and deodorise at the same time. This is a key component that will help to clean your tongue, gums and teeth when you're swishing, and will help to rid your mouth of any strong odours that might be present at the time, freshening your breath in the process.

Each of the mouthwashes also contains xylitol, a natural substance that is found in certain fruits and vegetables and is used in foods and cosmetics as a refined sweetener. This ingredient has been proven to cause none of the harmful effects that sugar can have on the teeth; is perfect for diabetics as it doesn't effect blood sugar levels at all; yet offers the sweetness to help give these tabs their interesting but enjoyable flavours.

Whether you're popping out for a day at the beach; making a weekend trip to see the family; or jet-setting off to somewhere exciting, these 45g bottles can be tucked away with the assurance that you wont arrive at your destination with either soggy luggage, or with the lingering smells of your breakfast still festering on your tongue. Furthermore, they're also alcohol-free so these beauties wont cause you any issues when you're going through customs. No matter the length of your journey, these are handy to use at any time of the day: before you head out on your adventure; after a meal; or anytime you feel you need a little freshen up.

Ultimately, Khoomei Mouthwash Tabs are one of my favourites from the Lush range so far, and they are definitely a product that I will continue to use on an almost daily basis. These exclusives offer the perfect balance of taste and freshness and they're a genuine pleasure to use. Despite the rather boring demeanour that they offer, Khoomei are easily one of the most vibrant smelling and tasting oral care options from Lush. They step outside the box enough to bring something new to the table, without taking us too far from what we're looking for from a mouthwash.
