Twilight Liquid Perfume

2012 was the year that I experienced Lush's Forum Special Perfume release for the first time. At the time I was fairly new to Lush, so like most newbies I hyperventilated over the release of Creamy Candy and The Comforter fragrances, but didn't pay much attention to the others. Fast forward a few months and I try Twilight Bath Bomb for the first time - instantly falling in love with the smell and regretting not buying at least one of the perfumes when they had been available earlier in the year.

Twilight Liquid Perfume is a strong, heady and very unique fragrance offering from Lush. This is not one for the faint hearted and even though some might be put off by the heavy lavender presence in the scent, I would still recommend that you give it a try as you may be surprised by what you find.

What sets this and all of the many other Twilight-scented products (Shower Gel, Luxury Lush Pud Ballistic, FUN With A Twist) apart from other lavender-scented cosmetics, is that this is a far sweeter and more comforting aroma. This doesn't smell like the aged pot-pouri you find in your Grandma's home - nor the over-used cheap floral smell you find in the hundreds of gift sets laid out in your local Boots.

Instead, the combination of lavender, ylang ylang and tonka bean has been perfectly crafted to create a richly sexy aroma that makes an instant impression on your senses. Initially, you get the strong, flowery smell of fresh lavender that intertwines with the ylang ylang and creates a sweet, floral aroma. Underneath this is a strong tonka presence which gives the perfume a creamy, powdery and almost sugary note. It smells like fresh lavender sprinkled with dashings of icing sugar. In other words, pure perfection!

Together, these ingredients create a big, bold statement. Twilight is both potent and strong - yet it's not so heavy that you feel weighed down by it's scent. It's a highly relaxing aroma - one that makes its presence known some 4-5 hours after initial application - winning the award for one of the longest lasting Lush perfumes that I have experienced so far.

This is a seriously sexy perfume - one that should be made a permanent product on Lush's website. It will appeal to both young and older consumers - fans of lavender smells and those that are looking for something slightly different from the humdrum of boring perfumes. I happen to favour this over most of Lush's other fragrances and will definitely be buying more bottles if Lush ever bring it out again.

  1. I adore this too! I think the malt-like element works so well in perfume format. Its a modern take on lavender, and the sweetness is hard to describe. It's sweet but it's got more depth than a straightforward sugary perfume. I think Lush's 'malt' description fits perfectly. This is such a comforting scent and I find you get wafts of it throughout the day. I'm going to put some on now! Great review by the way!

    1. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it! I think with the amount of fuss that people have made over the shower gel version of this, as well as the popularity of Luxury Lush Pud, I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of the perfumes Lush released in their November perfume round. I would love love love to purchase a few more bottles of this liquid gold :)

  2. Me too! I've been supplementing mine with an oil dupe from a brilliant website callwd theperfumepeople.net, I also have their Snow Fairy which I can't remember if they still make. They have quite a few Lush dupes and I recommend the oils - I got a spray and oil of their Rose Jam dupe and the oils are just brilliant. Will be using my Twilight sparingly with my dupe as well until it makesva return to the Kitchen!

  3. Oh and they now do body butters and lotions in your choice of scent. I'm going to order one in their version of Rose Jam as well as their Twilight. I sniffed my oils again today and I really am impressed. They respond quickly to correspondence and are expanding their range all the time - their Lush dupe range is growing all the time. I really do recommend trying out their Twilight, a 10ml roll on oil is only £4. I would love to know what you think if you do get any!

  6. Hi, I've created a petiton to bring Lush's twilight shower gel back and would appreciate if you could help sign it! Maybe if enough of us sign it we can ask Lush to bring them back permanently!

    1. They have said they can't as it would be too popular, there isn't enough lavender to be ethically sourced
