Sleepy Shower Gel

Sleepy Shower Gel is one of the many products that came with me on my recent trip to Africa. While I didn't have any worries about the possibility of me not be able to sleep whilst on my trip, I thought that perhaps the abundance of lavender featured in this seasonal special would at least help me with the blazing heat of the sun. And I was right.

I remember when it was first announced that Sleepy Shower Gel was coming out as part of the Christmas range, my immediate thought was to wonder why they had just re-packaged Twilight Shower Gel but in a slightly milkier looking purple colour. It didn't take me long to realise that there was a difference between this and the original version.

While both products contain an abundance of lavender and tonka absolute, this version also boasts a combination of ingredients to sooth and soften the skin, and leave it feeling beautiful and radiant, whilst also calming any irritated areas and clearing up dried skin patches at the same time.

Featuring oat milk as one of the key components, this limited edition offers a base ingredient that not only leaves your skin feeling like velvet, but is the perfect remedy for anyone with winter-kissed skin. After taking a battering out in the cold, this ingredient helps to reduce any redness, calm any itchiness, and replenish the skin with a natural source of goodness.

Alongside this ingredient there is also a large helping of benzoin resinoid, which is an anti-inflammatory that helps to protect your skin during the colder months of the year. The inclusion of this component also helps to sweeten up the overall aroma of this shower gel, and could quite possibly be the reason why there is a difference between this and the Twilight Shower Gel.

If we are to compare scents, Sleepy Shower Gel has an overall slightly stronger thread of tonka absolute. While there is really not that much of a difference, I could definitely smell the presence of the oat milk and the vanilla thread a little more prominently, and this produced a shower gel that appeared more milky and creamy overall.

To my nose, the original shower gel was a little more sultry and contained a slightly stronger dose of lavender. In this seasonal special however, the lavender is a little more mild, but not by much. Ultimately, the difference is very subtle and most fans of Twilight, as well as Sleepy Body Lotion, will no doubt want to stock up on this before the season is over.

In the shower, this shower gel is generous with the foamy lather that it creates. You only need a very small helping to wash your entire body with, and this means that the product will last you and awfully long time. I took a 100 g bottle with me to Africa, and along with my partner managed to make it last for the full three weeks – this is with 2 to 3 showers per day.

What was great about Sleepy Shower Gel is the fact that the shower gel left my skin feeling silky smooth and really smooth. While a lot of people may wish to use this alongside the body lotion, I felt that the shower gel moisturised my skin enough that I didn't need to use this afterwards. Furthermore, the scent remained fairly prominent on my skin for a good 45 minutes after I have towelled myself down, which is an impressive amount of time.

For a winter gel, this is the perfect accompaniment for those who develop dried skin or cracking due to the cold weather. After a few showers with this product, I could really tell the difference that I had made to my skin. Although I prefer the Twilight Shower Gel, if only because I feel as if it's a little sweeter to my nose, Sleepy Shower Gel is a great addition to this year's Christmas range.

If you love the body lotion, you’ll want to get your hands on one of these as it replicates the scent perfectly. This is definitely one of my favourite products from the seasonal range, and I will be buying another bottle before the year ends.

  1. Your experience with the Sleepy Shower Gel sounds delightful! The combination of lavender and oat milk must be incredibly soothing, especially in warm weather. I love how it not only cleanses but also helps to soften and nourish the skin. The way you described the creamy texture and foamy lather makes it sound luxurious! It’s great that it leaves a lasting scent without needing extra moisturizer. I’m curious about how it performs in colder months—do you think it would still be effective then?
