Twilight Solid Perfume

When it comes to Twilight, I couldn't care what format Lush decide to bring it out in; they could release a carrier bag with the fragrance and I would most likely buy an entire shop's worth on the spot. It's one of those aromas that insights a strong and rather deep emotional response from myself, and I just cannot get enough of it.

So when Lush announced that one of the five limited edition fragrances this year would be Twilight, my heart skipped a beat and my wallet groaned in anticipation. While I had managed to acquire an old bottle of the liquid variation a few years ago, I was excited and slightly nervous to be testing out the solid edition for the first time. How would it hold up?

Much like the original bath bomb that this takes its smell from, this solid perfume is all about the lavender. Yet, as you would expect from any of the products in this scent family, there is more than just the floral elements of this ingredient present.
While the lavender is the key component here, offering a strong and very wholesome camphor-like smell - a sweet and slight pine-like floral element unlike anything else, there is also a generous dose of tonka absolute which adds a thick and very creamy vanillary element to the mix.

In the tin, the lavender is slightly grassier than you would expect from the bath bomb of the same name, and it's noticeably less powdery as well. While it's just as sweet and as malty as you would expect and hope for, there is something less cloudy and more floral than the shower gel and bath bomb. On the skin, the lavender disperses quite a bit and you are left with a sweet and well-rounded vanilla fragrance with just a hint of lavender, which is lovely.

Much like the liquid version, this perfume sits well on the skin and offers the wearer a good few hours worth of scent. Although some users may find the strength of this perfume slightly disappointing (given that it took me - a Twilight obsessive, a good few uses to really appreciate its subtlety), this is definitely a perfume that grows on you over time and makes for a comforting experience on the body.

As with most of Lush's other solid perfumes, it melts very easily under your finger and can be applied with ease onto your pulse points. While it does dampen very slightly once it's settled, it still gives off a very robust and well-rounded aroma, and works as a perfect perfume to apply before bed. The only change I notice with the perfume is that once it's been on the skin for a while, you begin to detect a slight note of tonka, which gives the fragrance a little extra sweetness.

If you find that the perfume doesn't work for you, you can opt to massage a little onto your fingers and then run these through your hair - giving your locks a burst of wonderful fragrance and offering you the joys of catching a whiff of the scent every time a breeze ruffles your hair.

While I wouldn't say that Twilight shares the longevity of its liquid brother, it definitely makes a gentle but nevertheless beautiful impression on the wearer, and this is definitely one I will be turning to time and time again when I need that much needed burst of warmth throughout the colder months.

  3. If it was me to rate this product, I would give 5 ratings! The reason because the staying power on my skin was only for almost 2 hours. Since you have great traffic of people who read your blog, it would be awesome if you encourage them to post the ratings below your's as well :) Thought it would be interesting....
