Lush Cocktail: Honeeey Baby!

Verdict:

I am royally spoiled - there is no denying it. Looking back at the cocktails I have been indulging in over the last few months, I realise that I'm using almost £10 worth of products with each and every single bath. While I am completely content in doing so (as these baths are often my saving grace after a stressful day), I sometimes take for granted just how much freedom I have with my spending habits.

Honeeey Baby! is a decadent and very rich cocktail - one that borrows the fragrance and productivity from three limited edition products, and one recently discontinued bath melt. While this experience is definitely worth the investment and the use of products, I recognise that many people would not be willing to part with so many rarities when we don't know if they'll ever make a reappearance.

As with all of my cocktails, you can easily reduce the amount of each product you use - I'd say that you could stretch the ingredients in this cocktail across two or three different baths. However, being my green self and having experienced a pretty terrible day, I knew I needed something extra special to lift my spirits a little.

I chose to crumble the Amandopondo Bubble Bar first. What I found with this bubble bar is that it's very soft to touch so will crumble very easily, and you don't have to wait long before the bath begins to fill up with beautiful bubbles. I'll probably go as far as to say that this bubble bar produces some of the greatest bubbles I have ever seen. They are extremely light and fluffy, with an almost velvety consistency, and to the naked eye, don't necessarily look any different from other bubbles.

Up next was the Ma Bar Bubble Bar. Once under the running tap, this limited edition crumbled with a little force and produced a surplus of luxurious, creamy bubbles that permeated the room with the gorgeous scent of toffee, cocoa and honey. The only down side to this product is the fact that it turns the water into a nasty shade of brown. However, once all of the ingredients have been added into the tub, this problem is soon solved.

Floating Island shares it's fragrance with the now discontinued Whitewash Shower Smoothie - a light, sweet sandalwood and cocoa butter scented bath melt. You can use this product in one of two ways; As you can see from my video, I choose to drop it into my tub and leave it to gently melt away by itself. This particular melt took almost 10 minutes to fully dissolve, meaning that you can get in while it's doing it's job and relax while it softens the water around you. Secondly, you can choose to crumble this melt under the running water. Either way, Floating Island produces a sea of creamy white foam that rests on the surface and washes away without staining the tub.

Enriched with the popular Honey I Washed The Kids scent, Shoot For The Stars is the icing on the cake. Composed of a beautiful rich blue, yellow and silver shell, this bath bomb is a pleasure to watch in the tub. This ballistic not only dominates the colour of the water and creates a deep, dark haven of colour, but the scent is easily the strongest component in this cocktail.

Altogether, this cocktail offers a highly sensual, potently fragrant and luxuriously lavish thing experience that is well worth the use of four different bathing products. While I would say that Amandopondo could probably be left out (as I could barely detect it in the water), and the Shoot For The Stars could probably be halved to allow the vanilla of the melt to come through more, I think this is a great winter cocktail - one that's creamy and moisturising enough to undo weeks of damage from the colder weather.

Lush Cocktail: Sweet Feet Foot Cocktail

Verdict:

This cocktail has been a long time coming. In fact, it was the second suggestion ever made to me on this blog and one I've gone back to time and time again over the last few months. This also happens to be the first of its kind - a cocktail designed to soothe and pamper your feet rather than your whole body - a concept that I was very intrigued to try out.

While I have made suggestions as to the quantities you should use, I will say that you could probably reduce each portion if you want to conserve your Lush products. I found that I had a little left over of both the scrub and the massage bar so these could be reduced, and while I have cut my portions out of both products, you could just as easily use them whole if you'd rather.

To begin your Sweet Feet experience, use the Sugar Plum Fairy Sugar Scrub as a pre-cocktail exfoliator - wetting your feet with a little cold water and then scrubbing all over until you're satisfied that they're ready for the next stage. Don't worry too much if you really buff your skin - the butters and oils present in the rest of the soak will soothe and repair afterwards.

In a basin of water, crumble the Candy Mountain Bubble Bar and then pour in boiling hot water to stimulate those bubbles and bring out the wonderful candy aroma. The water will turn a beautiful cloudy, pastel pink colour and the smell it excludes is delicious.

Next add in your piece of the Melting Marshmallow Moment Bath Oil - or the original bath melt of the same name if you aren't fortunate to have the bath oil around. This shares its scent with the Snow Fairy family and adds a little burst of essential butters and oils to soften the water further and help to nourish those feet as much as possible.

Finally, the Shoot For The Stars Bath Bomb can be added. If you'd prefer more of a candy-scented experience, you might opt to leave this one out as it alters the fragrance quite a bit. However, I was looking for something a little more complex than the sweet, sugary smell that the other products create so I threw in a generous chunk to finish off.

The bath bomb deepens the colour of the cocktail - turning it into a dark blue haven of smell and bubbles. It also adds a sliver of silver lustre, which pulsates under the surface of the water and makes it an all-round stunning cocktail to look at. At this stage, a part of me wished that I'd used greater quantities and turned it into a bath as opposed to a foot soak, but it was too late now.

To finish off, I used the Snow Fairy Sparkle Bar to massage my feet and leave them smelling like a sweet shop. As this bar is rather greasy, I would suggest that you find somewhere you can relax for a while to allow the oils to permeate the skin before trying to put on socks or walk around.

Overall, while I don't have any other foot cocktails to compare it to, I was amazed by how beautiful my feet felt and looked after soaking them in this cocktail for a good 45 minutes. This is definitely something I am going to have to do regularly, and I just hope that other foot cocktails are suggested to me so I can spoil my feet with a different one each time!

Lush Cocktail: Candy Delight

Verdict:

After contracting an eye infection, I was forced to take two days off of work and could think of nothing better to do than try out some of the delicious cocktails that you guys have suggested to me. Having tried out various sweet and fruity combinations, I was craving something rather shamefully sugary and Candy Delight sounded like the perfect remedy.

Comprised of probably the least amount of Lush products possible, this cocktail is for someone who wants to utilise their items in the best way that they can. If like me, you invested in a number of seasonal Christmas gift sets in the Boxing Day sale, these are all items you might find yourself inundated with. This is a cocktail that will help to lighten the load and can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

First up, I crumbled half of a Candy Mountain under the running tap and was delighted to discover how many bubbles this little beauty creates. While I love the sweet, candy-esque aroma of this bubble bar, it's not one that I often use because I'm usually too preoccupied with the Christmas bath bombs. However, whenever I do find myself with one, I remember how impressive it is - it really is one of the softest, most effective bubble bars that I have ever tried from Lush.

Unfortunately, despite it's bright pink and silver demeanour, this bubble bar does little to the colour of the water and so you're left with a rather plain looking bath. Having said that, the smell that emanates from this bubble bar alone is enough to make you forgive this product slightly.

Next I squirted lashings of Snow Fairy Shower Gel under the running water. Again, despite the vivid pink-colour, this shower gel didn't alter the colour of the water at all but it did strengthen the overall smell. You could detect both of the products very strongly by this point and the bubbles were almost overflowing outside of the tub.

Finally, to add some softness to the experience, I added in an entire Butterbear Ballistic. This little fella got to work immediately - frothing on the surface of the water and sending out waves of cocoa butter which helped to make this cocktail incredibly moisturising. Unfortunately, due to his size and how quickly he dissipated in the tub, the ballistic was engulfed by a wave of fluffy bubbles and I lost sight of him almost immediately.

Together, these three products created a strong, rich and very playful bath - perfect for both younger fans and those older Lushies with a sweet tooth. While Snow Fairy by itself can be rather potent and slightly too sickly for my liking, Candy Mountain and Butterbear softened it's fragrance and rounded it off with a creamy, vanillary element, which was lovely.

This is a cocktail you'd want to enjoy before heading out for a night on the town. While the warmth of the water is enough to make it very comforting, the smell wakes you up and leaves you feeling ready to party. All three ingredients are strong enough to not only make their mark on the overall aroma of this bath, but to leave an impression on your skin as well.

While I'm embarrassed to say that I don't go out as much as I should, this is definitely one I would choose to enjoy before I decided to hit the town. After towelling myself down, I used Snow Fairy Sparkle Massage Bar to not only prolong that candy scent, but to get my skin well moisturised, shiny and slightly glittery to boot. A well-rounded experience in my eyes.

Christmas Eve Bubble Bar

For the past couple of years, I have found myself with an abundance of this particular bubble bar - mostly through the generosity of family and friends who have lavished me with an array of beautiful gift sets every year from Lush's Christmas range. Distracted by the many new products the company spoil us with each time around, I've often brushed this bar aside in favour of the new additions. Recently, I've been feeling a little sorry for my collection of Christmas Eves and felt like it was time to give this bubble bar the spotlight.

Designed by one of Lush's shop managers, this product was not only created to be uplifting and invigorating for hard-working citizens, but equally relaxing so that it could be enjoyed at the end of an evening. Inspired by parents who have to 'work' late on Christmas Eve, filling in as the role of Santa Clause, as well those unlucky people who don't have the seasonal time off, this bubble bar is meant to be an affordable form of escapism for any who need it.

Although it differs from the original design, this product still displays beautiful shades of yellow and ultramarine blue. When it was first brought out, the bubble bar was made as an entire slab of blue with a yellow moon protruding from the centre. However, Lush have changed it slightly so that the yellow moon is now part of the circular design. I do admit that I prefer the old version better but it's not that much of a big deal.
Featuring both jasmine absolute and ylang ylang oil, this seasonal beauty has a strong floral smell. The jasmine is definitely at the forefront here but there are other layers of scent that help to pad the overall fragrance. Despite the potency of the bubble bar, it's still a gentle, soothing smell - perfect for an evening treat before bedtime.

Even though I liked the smell of Christmas Eve, I didn't think it was particularly seasonal so the bubble bar could be sold all year round. Furthermore, I felt that the overall aroma, although pleasant, wasn't unique or interesting enough for me to get too excited over it. For me, it's distinctly average.

Given it's size, this bubble bar could be broken into pieces and used for up to three separate baths. As this is one of the cheapest bubble bars on offer around Christmas, the multiple uses makes this one of the better value ones available as well.

After crumbling this under the tap, Christmas Eve fills your tub with an impressive amount of bubbles. In fact, I haven't seen a bubble bar react in this way for quite some time. It turns the water a wonderful deep blue colour and the bubbles stay with you throughout the majority of your bath, cocooning you in a silky-soft haven that you won't want to leave.

The beautiful smell of jasmine stays prominent throughout your entire experience and you'll find that the aroma lingers around your bathroom for quite a while, as well as permeating your skin and leaving you smelling gorgeous. To add to the experience, the bubble bar leaves the water, and indeed your skin, amazingly soft and conditioned. You can really feel the difference once you've left the bath, and I noticed that it got rid of some of the dry patches of skin I was beginning to notice on my body.
Christmas Eve does leave you feeling rejuvenated as well as calm, and it works wonders at winding you down before you go to bed. Lush even recommend that you use this with your children, as it will help them to release some of that pent up excitement that threatens to keep them up later than usual.

While it's far from being my favourite bubble bar, it does make a wonderful bath and offers you something you can enjoy time and time again. For those that dislike the spicy or sweet offerings that Lush bring out at this time of year, Christmas Eve makes a nice alternative and leaves you feeling gorgeous.
