Celebrate + Snowshowers Liquid Perfumes

For those who are unfamiliar with Lush's scent families, Celebrate is Snow Showers, Snow Showers is Celebrate. Maybe the company felt it was time to modernise some of it's product titles, or perhaps after naming the seasonal body lotion, they realised that they preferred the name. Whatever the reason, Celebrate is the chosen name in this latest round of limited edition perfumes.

As I mentioned in my review of Snowshowers Shower Jelly, my initial experience with this scent range didn't blow my socks off. As I explained, I had managed to acquire a couple of pots of the stuff after an eBay binge, and it was only when I began using it in the shower that I fell head-over-heels in love with the fragrance.

Snowshowers Liquid Perfume last made an appearance back in 2011, when it was released as one of seven limited edition Forum Specials during the holiday season. Originally named Champagne Snowshowers, Lush chose to drop the 'champagne' aspect from its name, but they certainly didn't remove the luxurious fizzy element that makes up the smell. Celebrate showcases this classic fragrance wonderfully, and if anything, it's even more beautiful than it's predecessors.

This perfume contains a mixture of sweet orange, cognac and lime oil - all three combining together to create a wonderfully uplifting and rather unique citrus smell. The lime and orange create a thick, zesty and refreshing effervescent aroma, while the cognac, which normally possesses a strong, alcoholic and rather fruity aroma, adds a sweet kick to the scent. In the bottle, it smells very much like fresh tangerines - it has that fresh, crisp and very natural citrus fragrance. The lime oil also adds a slight sweetness to it, which I wouldn't describe as being particularly sugary, but it definitely gives it that fizzy element that plays homage to the champagne that it is based on.
This limited edition beauty is a fantastic celebratory seasonal fragrance for those that want to experience the exquisiteness of champagne, without forking out a fortune for a good quality bottle. Celebrate is all of the alcoholic indulgence, without any of the morning-after hangovers.

Despite the fact that this perfume engulfs your senses the moment the lid is removed from the bottle, it disappointingly does not possess the longevity that I was hoping for. One squirt goes a long way and I didn't need to apply much to cover my wrists and neck appropriately. However, the fragrance only stays on the wearer for up to two hours, which means that you'd have to top up regularly if you wanted to wear this for a whole day.

It's a shame that this doesn't last that long on my skin because it is a lovely versatile fragrance that suits being used at any time of the year. Released during the winter months, it's great at giving you that light burst of refreshing citrus to wake you up in the morning. Yet it's fresh enough that it would compliment the wearer in the hotter, stickier months of the year as well.

Sharing it's scent with the likes of Showshowers Shower Gel, Golden Wonder Ballistic and Celebrate Body Lotion, this is a smell that works well in various different forms. Unfortunately, almost every single one of these products are seasonal or limited edition, so you won't be able to get your hands on this or any other of these products until the November/December period. I would recommend that if you love this scent family, you grab a bottle before they disappear because it could be that it works better on your skin than mine. However, Lush could definitely do with changing the formula a little so that it doesn't disperse as quickly after application. Having said this, I have heard that citrus-orientated scents are difficult to bottle effectively because of how gentle the smell is to begin with, so maybe it's a problem that exists outside of Lush as well.

While I will enjoy the two bottles of Celebrate and single bottle of Snowshowers Liquid Perfume that I have left, it won't be one that I'd rush out to buy again if it made an appearance next year.

  1. Hi, I hate to annoy you on one of your product posts but I was wondering if you could check how many times I've posted on your giveaway. Every time that I go and enter it refreshes the page and brings me back to the top. So I'm a little nervous that I've accidentally posted too many.
My email is Rvtoker@gmail.com Thank you, and sorry for this!

  3. I was lucky enough to get both the liquid & solid Celebrate from Lush Japan recently, the scent is perfect for spring/summer, I love the orange, bubbly champagne scent of it so much! I generally don't like many citrus scents (especially lemon & grapefruit) but I do love orange & lime. This, in my daughter's words, smells like Skittles candy :) I find it very effervescent & a beautiful sweet orange scent. I'm hoping they bring back the Snowshowers jelly soon & make the Supernova bath bomb a permanent part of the Lush line of products!

  4. I love this perfume! I haven't had the shower gel or jelly, but I think the best formats of this scent are the Golden Wonder bath bomb and the perfume; I think the Celebrate lotion get a little tart. So glad I ordered this and grateful for your review!
