Dreamtime Luxury Bath Melt

It's only been over the last six months that I've taken quite an interest in Lush's range of bath melts. Before then I was contented to using a bubble bar or ballistic to get my 'bath fix'. However, there are certain times of the year when my skin always loses moisture and begins to turn dry and a little 'scaly'. It is during the winter-to-spring-to-summer changeover, that seems to effect my body the most, most likely due to the erratic weather conditions that occur around this time.

Dreamtime Luxury Bath Melt was a product I brought a good while back, intent on using during the winter months to give myself that little bit of a boost. Unfortunately, it's doesn't possess a very exciting demeanour, meaning that it was pushed to the back behind the more attractive and exciting products on my shelf. I finally managed to dig it out last week, and wished I'd used it a little sooner.

Much like You've Been Mangoed, Ceridwan's Cauldron, and the whole host of other bath melts that Lush offer, Dreamtime's main purpose is help moisturise and hydrate your skin, leaving it feeling baby-soft and invigorated. This luxury bath melt contains a whole host of oils alongside cocoa butter, all rich in antioxidants which help to heal and condition skin; almond oil is an unscented but highly nutritious oil with a high vitamin E content. When used in cosmetics, it helps to smoothen the skin and leave it feeling silky soft; lavender oil can be used to heal skin inflictions and soothe muscular discomfort. Furthermore, it can also calm the mind and aid restful sleep. Alongside cocoa butter, which soothes itchy and irritated skin, this luxury bath melt is a powerhouse of ingredients.

When placed in hot water, the bath melt begins to melt slowly, dispersing essential oils across the surface and softening the water throughout. As you soak, these oils are moisturising and repairing your body, leaving your skin feeling velvety soft and refreshed. When you exit the bath, you can really feel how smooth and silky your skin is; I love the way that this melt makes my skin feel!

Lush explain that 'as this melts into your bath, leaving a milky, oily sheen to the water, Dreamtime releases a blend of fragrances specifically designed to help calm the mind and ease aches. Chamomile blue and lavender oils induce sleepiness, while also soothing sensitive skin. Ginger is warming and eases tired muscles, while the exotic scent of sandalwood is used as an anti-depressant in aromatherapy.'

The prominent scent here is definitely lavender, although I could pick out hints of both chamomile and sandalwood in the mix. The bath melt also has a nutty element to it's fragrance, which is no doubt due to addition of almond oil.

Priced at £3.25, this is the same price as You've Been Mangoed, and although I don't think the smell is as appealing as this other bath melt, this one definitely has better moisturising properties in the water. The product also contains smell shards of herbs and flowers in it, which float across the surface of the water once the melt has fully dissolved. Although I'm unsure what the purpose of these were, they didn't cause me any problems and washed away easily when the tub was empty.
As I've said with all of my other bath melts, these products are not intended to be used whole; I've only used a whole bar in my video to demonstrate how it performs in the bath tub. All of Lush's melts are best used in halves, and can be added in alongside your favourite bath bomb to create a fragrant and highly moisturising experience. I think Dream Time works really well with both the Twilight and Fizzbanger ballistics, although I'm sure they work just as well with other products.

Ultimately, Dream Time Luxury Bath Melt is a relaxing and very effective product. It leaves your skin wonderfully smooth and really helps you to relax before bed. The presence of both lavender and chamomile is definitely at the forefront of it's scent. However, it's not so overpowering that it takes over, and would definitely not dominate over the smell of another bath product. A wonderful addition to any bath; I'll definitely be buying this again.
