Salted Coconut Hand Scrub

I suppose it goes without saying that Lush can be rather expensive for many people and it's definitely more of a luxury purchase for most. Unfortunately, the company sure know how to make their products highly appealing, and it's only after you've been shopping there for a while that you realise how many products you find yourself suddenly 'needing' when they weren't necessities beforehand.

Back when I didn't have a disposable income, I never had any reason to use a face mask and I certainly wouldn't have thought about using a body conditioner either. Yet years later these have now become staple products in my household, with the most recent addition being the Oxford Street exclusive, Salted Coconut Hand Scrub

In all honesty, I was rather disappointed by this product to begin with. Not because it wasn't effective or didn't offer a beautiful fragrance to enjoy, but simply because it didn't smell anything like I was expecting it to, and I was rather annoyed to find that it wasn't the creamy, foody coconut scent I was looking forward to indulging in.

Having said this, my opinion of this product changed a matter of seconds after using it for the first time, and it has since found its place on my sink as a regular scrub for my weathered and rather tired-looking hands.

Sharing its scent with both the Furze Liquid Perfume and bath oil, this brand new product is the first of its kind to come from Lush. While it has been marketed as being exclusively for the hands, most consumers know that the company's products are very versatile and this works equally well as a body scrub.
Containing argan and neroli oils as well as a fresh lemon infusion, this creamy floral fragrance smells like the offspring of a gorse bush and a coconut tree. While it gives off a wonderful, thick, vanilla-esque fragrance, there is no escaping the floral side of this scrub. While it shouldn't work, it does - maturing on the skin to allow the floral element to fade a little and give way to more of a buttery, milky citrus and vanilla smell. It's delicious.

Lush recommend that you take a generous helping of this product to use but I found that I only needed a small grape-sized dollop to give my hands a thorough and very effective clean. Simply massage it across each hand and then rinse it off with warm water, where it leaves your skin feeling incredibly softened, really supple and well-moistured.
Salted Coconut is great in the sense that it's quite a mild scrub - the inclusion of sea salt giving this product a consistency that it's lovely rough so it works as a gentle exfoliation as opposed to a harsh one. Furthermore, the scrub itself is very thin and almost watery in the tub so it's easy to apply and glides over the hands really easily.

To make it even more impressive, this product leaves a really strong fragrance on the hands and I could still smell it some two hours later. My hands stayed in great condition for even longer and I could still feel the effect of the scrub a whole 24 hours after initial application.

I would definitely recommend this hand scrub. While I had no previous expectations of it before I began using it, it has outshone many other products that I was expecting to love and cemented itself as one of my favourite products from Lush. Whether you think you need a hand scrub or not, you definitely will after trying this one out for size.

  2. Hello!
I totally agree with you in the case of suddenly "needing" products I never needed before. Lush turned me into a real chick x)
I had it with personal hygiene like most males. Shower gel and shampoo. When my hair grew longer, additionally conditioner. But it was a necessary evil, not something I ever enjoyed. Then came Lush. Now I use hair & face masks, solid soaps, body scrubs, lotions, massage butters, powders, I even take foot baths and occasionally put on a foot mask. Weird.
And yes, I also like this Salted Coconut hand scrub. I got a trial pot from another Lush-junkie and the first thing I thought was: "A hand scrub? Really? Who the f*** needs a hand scrub?" - Well, I do. Now. :D

  4. i've heard people use it as a whole body scrub, which i want to try - i love my crazy rough and thorough scrubs but don't want to use them too often and end up irritating my skin so salted cocunut could be a good gentler/finer scrub?
definitely know what you mean about suddenly needing things, i've literally gone from "who the fuck needs skin care" to working my way through every product on the shelf! I'm hoping that once i've tried them all (or at least all the regulars) i'll be able to settle on my favourites and then just come back for seasonal products and spa treatments ^^
