Cream Egg Bubbleroon

What made Lush suddenly decide to bring out multiple colour variations of their seasonal products last year is a mystery. While I recognise that profit is obviously a key concern, I find it slightly perplexing that they've never really done this before now. Having said that, while it does offer a more extensive range for fans to choose from, it's rather annoying for those of us who feel the need to try every design that Lush ever release.

As I've taken time out of my career to focus on travelling for a while, my funds are probably limited more than most people. For this reason, I made the decision that being able to buy food was probably a tad more important than trying three of the same product simply because they were patterned differently. For this reason, I had to pick only of the designs, and I believe I picked well.

The Cream Egg Bubbleroon is a rather wonderful alternative to the non-vegan classic chocolate treat that has been coming out every year since 1963. Sporting three different designs (marbled, spotty and circles), this limited edition is a little bigger than the chocolate treat, and is definitely far more healthier as well.

For those unfamiliar with the term 'bubbleroon', this is a concept coined by Lush to mean a bubble bar that has been sandwiched together with a delicious filling of butters and oils in the middle. Modelled on the classic Macaroon, these bubble bars are normally more moisturising on the skin, and can easily be broken into two to be used across multiple baths.

To use, simply cut or break off a small piece and then crumble it under the running water to create a soft and very delicious smelling bath. All three designs can be used across multiple baths, although breaking it in half will give you two very exquisite experiences, with lots of bubbles to boot.

For those who want a bath to match the scent, the marbled variation will turn your water a beautiful shade of blue; spotty lovers will appreciate the bright shade of yellow that the water turns when using one of these. If like me you opted for the circles design, you'll be left with a deep, warming shade of orange to bathe in - which contradicts the fragrance a little but still allows for a beautiful experience overall.

Containing both cocoa butter and spearmint oil, Cream Egg is a cool, refreshing and rather delicious-smelling minty concoction. While it doesn't appear as if the company have linked the scent of this with any of their previous products, there is a familiarity about the fragrance which I link to the wonderful Haagenbath Bath Bomb. Although not a direct replica, and definitely a little more subtle than the aforementioned bomb, there are definitely similarities between the two that will please fans of the ballistic.

As many Lushies have already stated, the easiest way to describe the scent of this bubbleroon is by saying that it smells like toothpaste. Having said this, there is something far more beautiful about Cream Egg that deserves a little more explanation. Being far from potent, the spearmint offers a gentle but cooling minty smell - that makes your bath both refreshing yet equally comforting as well. The inclusion of the cocoa butter rounds off the smell with a sweet and creamy chocolatey note.

Whether used first thing in the morning to wake you up, or last thing at night to cool you down, this Easter special is a really lovely addition to the seasonal range, and I hope that this makes an appearance again next year. The bubbleroon produced a really softening bath, and I could feel how smooth my skin felt after only being in the water for a few minutes.

If I was to use this in the morning, I would probably use a body lotion afterwards - only because I don't know whether or not the effects of this would last an entire day. However, when using this before bed, I preferred to enjoy the delicate fragrance that remained on my skin for an hour or so, and it was lovely to wake up in the morning with the smell still on my pillow to enjoy.

This is definitely far more beautiful than the sickly chocolate treat and offers a much richer indulgence as well. While a lot more expensive than the confectionary, half of one of these bubbleroons will leave you feeling so much more satisfied overall, and this is definitely something I would recommend for others to try. Cream Egg is a product that I would certainly buy again next year, and I'm excited to see whether or not other designs might make an appearance alongside the three from this year.
