Described as a 'dusting powder with a golden lustre to give a seductive glow', this is the creme-de-la-creme of dusting powers. Not only is it the most expensive - coming in at £10.25 for a 45ml bottle, but it also looks like the most exquisite. With it's golden colour and sprinkling of golden lustre, this is designed for those special moments, when nothing but the best will suffice.
Lustre is named so because of the high volume of gold glitter that features in it's ingredients list. Surprisingly, despite coming second after the cornflour, I didn't detect a great deal on my skin after I applied it, so you don't have to worry about looking like a toddler after an art lesson.
Fragranced with the popular Lust scent, this is a sensual, sexy and very seductive product. There's ylang ylang, rose, vanilla, sandalwood and jasmine in here but it is the latter ingredient that stands out above the rest. It is very much an unapologetic jasmine scent that's completely natural and isn't dampened or weakened at all by the other scents. Instead, it's supported and deepened by the other floral ingredients. The vanilla adds a natural sweetness which helps to bring all of the floral elements together and gives this powder a rich, strong but equally feminine aroma.
To use this product, simply shake into the palm of your hand and then rub into your skin. You can also apply it directly onto any areas you wish to, although I found that this can cause a lot of the powder to fall off and get onto your clothes and/or carpet. You only need a small amount to cover your whole body - I found a teaspoon amount was more than enough each time.
The dusting powder sits beautifully on the body, immediately being absorbed into the skin so you don't have to worry about it rubbing off on any clothes you put on afterwards. The inclusion of cornflour makes this powder beautifully soft and it instantly makes your skin feel smooth. The inclusion of the golden lustre gives your skin a very light layer of colour, which instantly makes your skin look and feel more radiant.
What is great about Lustre is that the aroma stays with you for many hours and offers little bursts of scent throughout the day. I found that when I was on the beach, the fluctuation of the sun's heat brought about notes of jasmine, ylang ylang and vanilla. This is a great little product that can be used to complement sun-kissed skin, while adding a natural layer of colour for those of us who reflect the sun with our pasty complexions!
I actually prefer this to the Lust Perfume as I found it much warmer and more complex than the liquid version. Not only this, but the fragrance has much more longevity on the skin. This 45ml bottle will last you at least twice as long as the 30ml bottle, so it works out much better value for money. While it's not something I will buy regularly, it is one of my favourite dusting powders and is definitely a summer staple in my household.
