Snowshowers + Celebrate Solid Perfume

Ever since I first fell in love with all things Snowshowers, I have been pining after every Lush product that claims to possess the same scent. While it's not the most complex or the most beautiful, there is something special about the gentle sweet fizziness of this fragrance - one that reminds me of summer days and freshly-made cocktails.

Originally known as Champagne Snow Showers, Snowshowers Solid Perfume is a fragrance based on the celebratory drink; a lively, sweet, effervescent white grape smell with elements of citrusy orange and acidic lime. It's a gloriously fizzy scent that smells of freshly peeled fruit and bubbly champagne.

2014 has seen Lush update and rename some of it's products, and this is one such example. Celebrate Solid Perfume is the modernised version of Snow Showers - same scent but just with fewer preservatives and a little more flair. The new formulas of these solids make the perfumes easy to apply and they seem to pertain their smells for far longer inside the tub.

In the tin, you can immediately smell the uplifting but equally pungent combination of lime and orange oil, which although beautiful, is slightly one dimensional to begin with. However, like other products in this scent range, once it reacts with the warmth of your skin, the different layers of the fragrance make themselves known and give off a wonderfully warm and gorgeously rich smell.

Celebrate Solid Perfume smells almost identical to it's liquid counterpart, but unlike the bottled version, it doesn't seem as complex and lasts for a disappointingly little amount of time. In the tin, it gives off a tangerine scent, but the fruity element seems slightly more tart than it does in the bottled edition. On the skin, the warmth allows the different elements to seep out a little more and it's only then that you get to appreciate the multiple layers that make up this fragrance.

To use solid perfumes, all you have to do is massage your finger over the surface of the perfume and then rub it into key areas of the body. It's much more conservative than liquid perfumes as you don't lose any of the product when you're applying it to your skin, and having to apply it directly really gives you an opportunity to massage it into the areas you want - a 12g tub would easily outlive a 100ml bottle in that sense.

Celebrate, like a good majority of the fresh solid perfumes that I've used as of late, takes minimal effort to use and apply. You only have to stroke the surface of the perfume to get a good amount of product, before massaging it with your finger across your wrists and neck for a few seconds.

Once it's on the skin, this beauty gives off wave after wave of zesty goodness. However, you can only detect the scent on your skin for about an hour or so after initial application, which is very little time at all. This is a product you will need to carry with you in a bag or purse and top up throughout the day/evening.

Despite this, it is refreshingly youthful and works perfectly well as both a daytime perfume and one to perk you up before for an evening of partying. A quick dose of this on the dance floor and you'll continue to feel refreshed throughout the night and into the early hours. It's just a shame you would need to apply it every hour or so to maintain this effect.

This beautiful solid perfume is the life and soul of the party - a perfume that on the surface is fairly simplistic, but one that keeps on giving. I love to slip this into my bag and top up throughout the day - revelling in the positive comments I get from members of the public who want to know what I'm wearing. However, I would love it a lot more if the scent was longer-lasting and as complex as the liquid version. This has only scored a four because I love the scent so much - productivity wise, it's more a three in my opinion.
