FUN Snowman Bar

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship when it comes to this FUN malarky. On the one side, I really appreciate Lush making the effort to offer products that suit most people's budgets, and it's nice to see products that can be offered to children so that they too can enjoy the wonderful world of Lush.

However, on the other hand, I cannot imagine a FUN bar ever being good enough to outshine a shower gel, shower jelly or bubble bar. Having said that, this year's seasonal Snowman Bar, is the closest I've come to eating my words.

Wrapped in a biodegradable wrapper, FUN encompasses everything I love about Lush;
1. It's completely ecologically friendly.
2. It's incredibly versatile and can be used as a shampoo, shower gel or bubble bar.
3. It's incredibly good value for money.
4. It comes in five beautiful and completely unique scents, not to mention seasonal items and limited editions.
5. It encourages your inner child to indulge itself as you can actually play with FUN, much like you would plasticine.

This seasonal edition isn't any different in that sense, but it does offer something a little extra that makes it a perfect stocking filler for adults and children alike. The white, orange and black design means that you can build your very own snowman before or during your bath or shower - a quirky addition that gives it a lovely festive vibe.

What I was most impressed with however, was the wonderful aroma that emanated through the wrapper. Sharing it's scent with Carrot Soap and this year's Easter special, the Reusable Carrot Bubble Bars, not to mention the Snowman Shower Jelly, this FUN bar smells incredible.

Fragranced with a refreshing and sweet blend of buchu, bergamot and Sicilian lemon essential oils, this FUN bar is super fruity, wonderfully fizzy and almost slightly sour, but in a good way. As I've mentioned in previous reviews, it's like the outer layer of a Solero ice-cream with an added note of tartness. Those of you who love products such as the Avobath Ballistic, Calacas and Each Peach and Twos A Pair, might very well fall in love with this as well.

This zesty and very fruity combination intensifies in the shower, and when mixed with warm water gives off a well-rounded and rather wonderful aroma. Under the heat of the water, you get a glimpse of the blackcurrant scent from the buchu oil, but it's more of a sour berry smell as opposed to the fun and fruity offering you get from The Comforter

What is great about this bar is that it lathers up really quickly in the shower, and you only have to break off a small piece each time - meaning that this will last you longer than a 100g pot of shower jelly or gel. The foam it creates is wonderfully soft and fragrant and leaves you feeling really clean and smooth.                                                                                                                               I should warn you though that it is rather messy to use - both the black and orange parts do create very vibrant-coloured foam, and I find that it splatters all over my bath tub when I'm in the shower. After using this, you will look like you've painted your body, tub, walls etc. - yet it washes away with ease and doesn't stain at all.
If used as a bubble bar, Snowman Bar creates a bath full of fluffy, playful bubbles and the scent lingers long enough for you to appreciate the uplifting, citrusy scents. My only issue with using it in the tub is that it creates a rather murky-looking water, so I would suggest that you only use the orange and white parts as a bubble bar.

Overall, I was really impressed with this FUN bar and the only major issue I had with it was finding somewhere I could store it so it didn't leak all over the bath. It fits really nicely in a large plastic Lush pot and I would highly recommend that you do this - otherwise you're most likely going to have streaks of orange and black all over your bathroom, and this isn't a very good look.

While I'd opt for the shower jelly version over this, I cannot really fault this as a product by itself, and while I won't be stocking up on this, it is something I will buy again once I have finished using my current bar.

  1. The black part is a wonderful exfoliant. Not very good for a bubble bath though, as charcoal is not very fun to sit on.
