Luverly Bath Ballistic

While it was their interesting and very natural scents that first attracted me to Lush, it was definitely their impressive range of sweet, fruity and citrus smells that cemented my commitment to the company. While the likes of Potion and Kerbside Violet have been big hits for me, I've never been overly keen on floral fragrances and this is one of the reasons why I wasn't especially excited about this bath bomb.

There is no doubt that Luverly Bath Ballistic is a beautiful product to behold. Crafted to look like a flower, the design mimics the very smells that emanate from this floral beauty - the wonderful pastel pink shade complimenting the heady rose aroma that greets you upon opening the wrapper.

First making an appearance almost fifteen years ago, this legendary bath bomb was made as a tribute to Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. The combination of ylang ylang, jasmine, and gardenia showcase a strong, powdery but equally sweet, floral, feminine fragrance that makes its presence known in the bathroom.

They pairing of ylang ylang oil and jasmine absolute means that Luverly is not a straight forward flowery scent. Both of the aforementioned ingredients give this bath ballistic a playful note that sits alongside the geranium element and helps to give it an uplifting but rather subtle sweetness.

To give the ballistic an extra special touch, this bath bomb has a whole rose bud that sits in the centre and gives it another floral layer to comprehend. Together, all of the ingredients give this item a scent that fans of Romance In The Stone and Softy will no doubt appreciate - offering something that resembles these scents while also showcasing something slightly different.

Despite it's size in pictures, this bath bomb doesn't weigh anymore than a regular bath bomb - it's just slightly less compacted so I would suggest that you use the entire thing in one go. Either this, or you could combine half of this with another regular item such as Tisty Tosty or Rose Queen to get an array of different flowery smells in your bath.

Once it hits the water, it dissolved very quickly - changing the water into a very light, translucent pink colour and releasing the rose bud to float peacefully on the surface of the tub. If you're someone who doesn't like debris in your bath, you'll be pleased to know that the single flower can be removed with ease and it won't spoil your experience at all.

Lush claim that the essential oils in this ballistic are relaxing, calming and warming, and while it's definitely not a favourite scent of mine, I would agree with this statement. What was impressive was the light layer of oils that sit on the surface of the water and help to nourish and soften your skin. These oils helped to keep my body feeling clean and smooth throughout the whole day, although Luverly didn't offer any lingering smells on the skin which was disappointing.

While floral fans will no doubt love the smell and design of this product, and although I won't deny that it wasn't a very effective bath bomb, I have rated this ballistic fairly low because when compared to other bath bombs I have had from the company, this is one of the most boring ones to date.

I didn't find that the scent lasted that long in the tub and I wasn't very impressed with the lack of entertainment that the product offered in the tub. It dissolved very quickly, created a less-than-inspiring colour of water to bathe in and didn't possess a smell that grabbed my interest all that much.
