Candy Rain Liquid Conditioner

Wait, this Lush product actually contains rain water in the ingredients list? I couldn't quite believe my eyes when I first read what went into making this conditioner: I felt very much like I did the time I discovered that you could buy balls of 'nothing' for a comical price of ten pounds. A part of me thought that perhaps had decided to have their April Fools a month earlier, but then I decided to carry out a little research into why.

Depending on where you live, the water flowing from your tap can be either hard or soft. Hard water is very mineralised and contains limestone and chalk deposits, both rich in calcium carbonate. These minerals can dry up the skin and give volume and lightness to hair, especially fine ones. On the contrary, soft water will help the hair to lie flat, which is great when you’re looking for a smoothing effect. Using this fountain of knowledge, Lush decided to use a generous helping of actual rain water to make this conditioner and crown it the aptly named Candy Rain in the process.

Reading like a vegan dessert or a very exquisite non-dairy milk drink, this limited Candy Rain is easily the greatest smelling liquid conditioner that Lush have ever created. Having said that, if you're not a fan of incredibly potent smells, you may find this far too overbearing for your liking..

Sharing its scent with the Mrs Whippy Bath Bomb, this gorgeous product has an intoxicating blend of tonka absolute and buchu oil. While the latter offers a little blackcurrant fruitiness, the tonka takes over like a pan of burnt caramel and gives the conditioner a rich, smoky sweetness that lingers on your hair for what seems like days. In fact, I've never experienced any Lush hair care product act as strongly on the hair, and it definitely takes a little while to adjust to its potency.

Featuring cashew, macadamia and coconut milk, Candy Rain is super hydrating on your hair, and makes a noticeable difference from the very first use. I found that my hair appeared smoother from the head to the tip, and my locks just looked and felt far more hydrated from the very get-go.

This would easily become a staple for me if Lush chose to bring it out as a permanent product. In fact, having fallen in love with this so much, it made me realise just how crazy it appears that the company continue to release hair care products with such a limited window of time to purchase them. I can only hope that Candy Rain makes enough of a impression to secure a place in the regular range.

Go Faster Feet Lotion

While I have spent the last two torturous months unable to exercise due to an injury I sustained on the treadmill, my body is normally used to running a good few times a week. For those who carry out regular training sessions, you'll know that sustaining an exercise regime as intense as this has its pitfalls - most notably when it comes to the condition that your feet end up in afterwards.

Although Lush's regular lotions work well at moisturising and softening every part of your body, their scents don't often lend themselves to deodorising your feet in quite in the same way that one designed especially for that area would do. Go Faster Feet is here to rectify this situation  and what a good job it does indeed!

Packed full of ingredients to cleanse, soften, condition and deodorise, this foot lotion is the perfect product to slip into your bag and take with you on your days out. As with Twinkle Toes, this product is dominated by the Moringa Leaf infusion - a light and antioxidant rich ingredient that boasts many benefits for the skin. Pertaining a gentle aroma not unlike fresh leaves, this infusion is rich in protein, essential amino acids, potassium and calcium - working alongside some of the other ingredients to repair and condition dry, damaged and tired looking feet.

This lotion also contains a generous helping of capirona bark decoction, which is a component not found in very many of Lush's products. This ingredient is renowned in the cosmetics world for its antifungal properties on the skin - a perfect component to include in a foot lotion then! With a further seven different oils and two butters, I don't think I have to tell you just how moisturising this lotion is and how amazing it leaves your skin feeling afterwards.

What is great about Go Faster Feet Lotion is that it's a very light moisturiser. Upon applying it across your body, it's absorbed into the skin very easily and you're not left with that horrible greasy, sticky feeling that you can often get from certain lotions. Furthermore, it's light enough that it offers you a very refreshing experience which is perfect for when you're looking for something to use after a heavy workout session.

To me, this lotion smells very much like a combination of Stepping Stone Foot Scrub and The Greeench Deodorant, albeit a little less lemony and a little more 'clinical'. What I mean by this is that it has that fresh, tea tree-esque aroma about it that helps to leave your feet smelling fresh and clean. Unlike a lot of the dusting powders, this is really easy to apply and is much more effective than the powered format.

I will definitely be stocking up on Go Faster Feet and will be relying upon this an awful lot when I begin training for my next marathon. Even if you're not someone who enjoys exercising regularly, this is still a great lotion to have around - to not only rid your feet of those pesky odours, but keep bacteria at bay and prevent fungal infections from making an appearance.

Quantitative Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Moringa Leaf Infusion, Capirona Bark Decoction, Moringa Oil, Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter, Baobab Oil, Organic Brazil Nut Oil, Kalahari Melon Oil, Glycerine, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Cupuacu Butter, Olibanum Oil, Thyme Oil, Cistus Oil, Bergamot Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Citral, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Vegan?: Yes.

Buttered Brazils Lip Balm

While I am in no way opposed to the smell of cocoa butter or products that are heavily 'chocolate-scented', it is definitely not a fragrance that I would naturally gravitate towards. If I had a choice between something sweet and something fruity, I would always lean more towards the latter, which is why I opted to try the other new lip balms out before I made my way onto this one.

Buttered Brazils Lip Balm is another of Lush's new releases that doesn't smell like you would expect, given its name. Instead, this Oxford Street exclusive smells much more like a dessert than it does a type of nut. While those expecting the brazil nuts to dominate will be sorely disappointed, those who like things decadent will be rather impressed.

With three oils and three butters in the ingredients list, this product is guaranteed to leave your lips feeling smooth and smelling gorgeous to boot. Both the shea and cocoa butters give this lip balm a really nice base. The product maintains its consistency and doesn't melt very easily in warmer weather, nor does it harden all that much in colder conditions.
While the balm does smell very heavily of cocoa butter, it gives off a much stronger, more rounded and far richer chocolately aroma than most of the cheaper alternatives you'd find in other shops. The inclusion of the dark chocolate and the golden syrup mean that Buttered Brazils has an almost treacle edge to it which makes it a very 'foody' scent.

While the Brazil nut oil doesn't offer a particularly strong aroma, you can detect a warm, gentle nutty element to the balm that shows it is very much present. Although I wasn't blown away by the scent, this is not because it wasn't delicious - more because it wasn't a smell that I would ever choose over a fruity one.

Much like Rose Lollypop, this balm is very similar in consistency to the likes of Lush's older balms. To begin with, the product was rather rigid and you'll be hard-pressed to get much onto your finger without having to work it for a good 30 seconds or more to soften the balm.

Once it has been used a few times, you'll find that it's rather sticky and waxy in the tin - a component that worried me at first because I assumed that it would be the same once it had been applied. However, once massaged over the lips, Buttered Brazils melted easily and became a normal balm - resting with a sort of shimmer that gives your lips a wonderful glow about them.

Not only does it nourish and moisturise your lips and leave them noticeably softer after only a single day, it also gives your lips a shiny, glossy look that remains prominent for a good while after application. Although it is not my first choice of lip balm, I cannot deny that the smell is very exquisite if you like those chocolately, buttery fragrances, and it does do a wonderful job at improving the look and condition of your lips.

Quantitative Ingredients: Fair Trade Shea Butter (Butyrospermum parkii), Brazil Nut Oil (Bertholletia excelsa), Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia cerifera), Organic Castor Oil (Ricinus communis), Cupuacu Butter (Theobroma grandiflorum), Water (Aqua), Coconut Wax (Cocos nucifera), Dark Chocolate, Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Flavour, Cetearyl Alcohol, Golden Syrup, Cocoa Roasted Extract (Theobroma Cacao), Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla planifolia), Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis).

Divination Reusable Bubble Bar

While most of the limited edition products available at the Oxford Street store have had a fair share of excitement surrounding them at one point or another, I'm not quite sure as to whether many have had as much intrigue as this particular bubble bar has. While Lush are known for their impressive range of smells and colours, it's normally the weird and wonderful items that get the most attention, and this product is definitely a mixture of both.

Divination - a name that comes from the Latin word, divinare; meaning 'to foresee, to be inspired by a god' is a bubble bar that makes an immediate impression - a stunning sparkly bronze shaped pendulum unlike any reusable bath product that Lush have ever released before.

Containing a generous helping of patchouli, rose and amber oils, this bubble bar offers a rich, complex and multi-layered fragrance that is perhaps Lush's most decadent bubble bar to date. A first sniff reveals a strong presence of all three of these components, but it is perhaps the inclusion of the amber that creates a rather unexpected aroma here - one that I was very pleasantly surprised by when I first removed this product from its bag.

Amber is not an ingredient that Lush use very often, which is a shame because it offers an amazingly sweet, resiny and almost woody element that would work so well in many of the products that Lush produce. In this particular bar, the amber helps to give Divination a very incensey fragrance - one that surprising offers a strong violet smell that I was not expecting at all.

While I don't want to undersell the bubble bar and say that this is all that the product smells of, the sweet, violet aroma is definitely the leading note - with a sort of powdery, woody layer underneath which rounds it off wonderfully and gives you one seriously sensual bath to enjoy. I have heard that this bubble bar is supposed to share its scent with the Tuca Tuca family and I can completely understand this as this is very much what I detect once the product is in use.

To use this bubble bar, you need to hold it underneath the running tap where the water will stimulate the bubbles. Almost immediately, the top layer of bronze lustre will melt away to reveal a succulent deep purple bubble bar underneath. As Divination gets to work at filling your tub with silky-soft, fragrant bubbles, the water mimics the design of the product and creates a gorgeous purple haven to submerge yourself beneath.

What was great about this product was that even though I held it under the tap for a good few minutes, the bar barely altered in size and I know that I could easily get a good 2-3 more uses out of it. While most of Lush's reusable bubble bars claim to last the same length of time, I often find that after two baths, the product is looking rather worse for wear. Given the size of Divination, I was expecting the same results, so I was rather impressed to see that it withstood the pressure of the running water and went on to provide me with three bubbly, fragrant experiences.

What lets this product down a little is that it wasn't as moisturising as most of Lush's bubbles usually are - the water felt rather average in this way and I had to add in part of a bath melt to add that much needed oil. Furthermore, the bubbles that were created at the start dissolved pretty quickly in the tub and the water didn't retain it's vivid purple colour for as long as I was hoping.

Despite this, I really loved that I could detect the violet aroma throughout my entire experience and the scent lingered for a short time afterwards on my skin.

Quantitative Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Fresh Banana, Glyceryl Stearate & PEG-100 Stearate, Perfume, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polyacrylate 21, Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), Polyquaternium-88, Citric Acid, Cationic Guar Gum Stearyl, dimoniumhydroxypropyl Laurylglucosides Chloride, Cypress Oil, Lime Oil, Rosewood Oil, Oakmoss Absolute, Almond Oil, Ground Almonds, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Organic Brazil Nut Oil, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Cinnamal, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Cinnamate, Cinnamal, Cinnamyl Alcohol, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Limonene*Linalool, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Mr Dandy's Hair Candy Hair Dressing

As someone who likes to keep her hair as natural as possible, I was rather overwhelmed with the number of hair care products that Lush made available for the opening of their Oxford Street store. While I was excited to try out all of the new shampoos and conditioners, I was slightly less enthused by the many dressings, gels and waxes that warranted their own section in the shop.

Mr Dandy's Hair Candy was one of the first in this range that I decided to try - for no other reason than because I was intrigued by the very name that it went by and because it seemed to be like no other Lush product that I have ever seen before. Described as a 'hair dressing', this exclusive product has the consistency somewhere between a gel and a wax. It looks and feels a little like a very thick body lotion that has had a helping of glue added to it - it sort of sticks to your fingers when you go to scoop some out and demonstrates a slight amount of elasticity when it's on your hands.

While I was expecting this product to possess a sweet, sugary fragrance, given the name, I was surprised to find that it shares its scent with the Jungle Conditioner and the recently released Tropical Jungle Body Lotion. The dressing has an almost woody, wheatgrass smell - there's definitely remnants of damp grass and reeds in the mix. However, at the same time, you also get a very heady, bitter lime element that gives the product a bit of a kick.

It's a very fresh and natural aroma - one that I would describe as being slightly unsettling but equally as gorgeous. What is great about Mr Dandy's Hair Candy is that the smell is very potent both in the tub and once it has been applied to the hair, so it's one that will stay with you throughout the entire day.

How you use this dressing is up to you - there are multiple ways of applying it and it will depend on how you usually style your hair as to which method you choose. As I don't tend to blow-dry or straighten my hair, I opted to apply it once it was completely dry.

Lush state that a 'little goes a long way' so I merely dipped my fingers into the surface of the dressing and came away with an amount that equalled the size of a small tablet. Then rather than smearing it onto my hair, I began to scrunch and 'mess up' my hair to give it some volume, starting at the bottom and working my way up. I found that I needed to apply another helping or two throughout this process because I have fairly long hair and one portion wasn't enough for my liking.

In its favour, Mr Dandy's Hair Candy does exactly what it states it can do. Once I had finished playing with my hair, I did notice a certain amount of volume that I would never have been able to achieve without the use of the gel. What's even more impressive is that I found that I could continue to style and re-style my hair throughout the entire day and it would always allow me to do this - remaining in the new position until I was ready to change it up again.

The only downside that I found with this product, and this may be because I am not used to applying any styling products to my hair normally, is that I could really feel the gel once it was in my hair. Not only was the consistency of my hair noticeably different, but I found that my locks felt rather sticky and slightly dry after application.

On the tub it claims that the dressing is to help 'build structure into finer, flyaway hair', which it definitely does as I really noticed a difference in the volume of my mane once the product was set. However, as it made my hair slightly greasy, I found that it separated strands near the top of my head and made it look a little thin on top.

Overall, there's no denying that this product works and it's impressive just how well it holds the hair and how long-lasting it is - especially when compared with other non-Lush alternatives. If you regularly use a gel or wax, this is definitely a product you'll want to try out because it's definitely far more natural than some of the bigger brands. My sister, who has medium-length hair, said that she found this product perfect for spiking up or 'punking-up' her locks, and she said that it was no more noticeable for her as her usual brand.

However, I found that I wasn't very comfortable with how my hair felt after using this and it resulted in me having to wash my hair nearly every night to keep it in tip-top condition. While the inclusion of fresh banana and various essential oils tells me that this dressing is certainly not damaging my hair once it's on, I definitely didn't feel as if my hair was as clean as it normally is after a shower.

I've given this dressing a high rating because as I said above, the problems that I encountered with Mr Dandy is to do with my personal preference, not a fault with the product itself. If you're looking for a natural dressing that'll give you volume and hold your style in place, this is definitely one you should try out for yourself.

Enzymic Shower Smoothie Roulade

Enzymic Shower Smoothie holds a very valuable place in my heart - for reasons that are quite silly when I think about them, but nevertheless a memory that I cannot seem to shake off. For it was this very product that first gave me a glimpse into the incredible world of Lush Oxford Street.

Back when the company first leaked those initial pictures of potential new products and verified exclusives, this strange looking green log was the first product that made its way onto my dashboard - an event that sparkled a flurry of excitement and caused my credit card to shrink into the darkest crevices of my already moth-riddled purse.

While Lush have released shower smoothies before, they haven't released anything that quite looks or feels like this one. Presented as a long 'swiss roll', this product is cut into smaller pieces in store - allowing customers to choose how much or how little they'd like at the time. Furthermore, their nakedness means that they're far cheaper than the likes of Lush Lime or Whitewash because you're not paying for the plastic tub - not to mention the fact that it's better for the environment this way as well.

What I love about this beautiful green shower smoothie is that it doesn't smell anything like you would expect it to. Initially, I imagined a very clinical smell - a little like Dream Cream or Aqua Marina - a smoothie that didn't possess a very strong fragrance but one that had miracle skin-calming properties aimed at those with sensitive complexions.

However, I was rather surprised to find that the roulade actually gave off a light fruity scent with a very subtle green note alongside this. An initial sniff presents you with a sort of dampened lime smell intertwined with a clean, fresh grassy note and a slight herbal element to boot.
Much like Havana Sunrise, Enzymic Shower Smoothie is one of those products that is rather difficult to describe. While there are so many ingredients present in the ingredients list, there's not really a single element that stands out above the rest. So while you can detect the pineapple juice, coconut and brazil nut oil - not to mention the geranium and chamomile oils as well, these elements combine so well together that there's not really a dominant note overall. You just get this strong and very interesting collaboration unlike anything that Lush have ever released before.

To use any one of Lush's new roulade smoothies, I would recommend that you break off a small piece and use this to clean yourself with. While you could use a whole piece at once, this product is far softer than most of Lush's soaps and I can imagine a 100g chunk would disintegrate and shrink very quickly if exposed to water and left damp in between uses.

I found that a centimetre piece was enough for each use and I was able to clean most of my body with this. All I did was massage the chunk between my palms and it produced a creamy lather much like a regular soap would. The foam itself was naturally green in colour and painted an interesting picture on skin during use. However, it doesn't stain so will wash away with the water when you rinse.
Much like most of the Lush's other shower smoothies, Enzymic really works hard at cleaning your skin - clearing out unwanted dirt in pores, while the chamomile oil calms the body and supports those with sensitive or irritated skin. However, as with most of their smoothies, I don't find that they moisturise all that well and my skin was left feeling rather taut after using this one.

While I was impressed with how much the fragrance remained on my skin after I had towelled myself down, I did have to moisturise afterwards which unfortunately thwarted most of the smell that was still lingering on my skin. Furthermore, my hands did feel a little dry after using this and I had to apply quite a lot of hand cream to rectify this problem.

Although I love the fact that this product is naked, that it smells lovely and that it seems to retain its moisture, even if its left out in the open, I didn't leave the shower feeling as soft and nourished as I would when using a normal shower gel. For this reason, I would probably not use this regularly, and only purchase a piece if I felt as if my skin was either stressed or perhaps a little damaged during the hotter months.

Quantitative Ingredients: Fresh Pineapple Juice (Ananas Sativus), Water (Aqua), Rapeseed Oil; Coconut Oil (Brassica napus: Cocos nucifera), Glycerine, Illipe Butter (Shorea stenoptera), Brazil Nut Oil (Bertholletia excelsa), Perfume, Fresh Papaya Juice (Carica papaya), Sodium Chloride, Fresh Lime (Citrus aurantifolia), Geranium Oil (Pelargonium graveolens), Chamomile Blue Oil (Matricaria chamomilla), Hyssop Oil (Hyssopus officinalis), EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Sodium Hydroxide, Citral, Citronellol, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Chlorophyllin (CI 75810).

Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner

I've been meaning to try this product for a very long time, and only got around to it recently when I dissected a few of my gift sets from last year, and began using the products inside. Ro's Argan Body Conditioner was one such product that featured in various different sets, so I found myself with multiple tubs of the stuff.

Firstly, what exactly is a body conditioner? Well, according to Lush, it is supposed to work in exactly the same way as a hair conditioner, only on your skin and not your head. You're supposed to smooth over wet skin whilst you're bathing or showering, and then simply rinse it off before towelling yourself down.

There's no denying that this stuff smells absolutely gorgeous. Sharing it's scent with the Rose Jam range, this product possesses a sticky-sweet yet delicate rose fragrance that is unlike any other rose scent I've ever come across before. It's beautiful. It's a natural, floral scent that has been uplifted with the likes of lemon, geranium and tonka bean, all of which give it a modern twist. To me, this perfume smells like the jam in the middle of a doughnut; it is delicious, luxurious scent that'll guarantee to turn heads. Furthermore, there's a slight musky element, which comes from the addition of vanilla pods in the ingredient list, making it an all-round perfect scent.

Other products that share it's smell include the Rose Jam Bubbleroon and the Forum Special Rose Jam Perfume, both of which are favourite products of mine. Further products that possess the same scent include their discontinued and ever-popular Scentenary Soap and their Rose Jam Shower Gel, which was brought back for a limited period as part of their 2013 Christmas range.

As well as it's rich, buttery floral fragrance, Ro's Argan also uses these ingredients, alongside others, to create a thick, velvety conditioner that conditions, radiates and strengthens the skin. Within this combination you'll find argan oil, which at first I had to research as I knew nothing about it to begin with. What I found out was that argan oil is extracted from the kernels of a tree found in Morocco, and is known for it's healing properties. It supposedly heals burns and rashes, hydrates and moistens pores and helps to reverse dry and flaky skin. Perfect.

Next up there's a combination of brazil nut and almond oils, both of which add a nuttiness to the overall scent alongside shea butter, cocoa butter and cupuacu butter, all of which moisturise the skin and leave it soft and radiant. Depending on how much your skin needs moisturising, I tend to use this product once a week, just to give my body a well-deserved reward after a long five days at work. To apply, simply scoop the desired amount from the tub and smother all over the areas you wish to pamper. However, take heed of the following;

Although Lush don't specify, I'm guessing that you use this product towards the end of your shower, and not as a shower gel or jelly. I say this as my skin became rather greasy after I had applied it, and I found that the water tended to roll off of my body because of how oily my skin was. What I found when I initially tested it out, was that due to it's thick consistency, the skin won't absorb much of the lotion, so you need to spread it as thinly as you can. A little lotion goes a long way. You know your skin well enough to know how much is too much for your needs.

What is fantastic about this product is that the smell is wonderfully potent and stays with you before, during and after your shower. Even when you've towelled yourself down, you can still smell that beautiful sweet floral scent on your skin. I found that this scent remains with you for ages and I could even detect it the following day, which was fantastic.

Ro's Argan Body Conditioner is definitely a wonderfully rich conditioner. However, it should be noted that you need to be very careful when applying it to your skin; too much of the stuff and your skin will become too greasy. Due to it's price (currently £15.95 for a 225g tub), and how it can feel if you apply too much, I would recommend that you use this scrupulously in the shower.
It took me a few attempts to get the right balance for this, but once I did, I was amazed and incredibly grateful that I stuck it out. It leaves your skin smelling gorgeous and feeling wonderfully supple and re-energised, and really helps to eradicate those stubborn dry skin areas. I think this is a great product and I will definitely be buying a big tub of this soon.

EggSnog Lip Balm

I've never tasted egg nog in my life, and to be honest, just the thought of it makes me feel a little nauseous. For those unfamiliar with the traditional beverage, eggnog typically consists of milk, sugar, raw eggs, and spices, usually nutmeg. Sometimes it also includes cream to make a richer and thicker concoction and some modern eggnogs even add gelatine to replicate the consistency.

The drink pretty much epitomises my idea of hell, so when I initially heard that Lush were bringing Eggsnog back for a limited release, I can't say I was particularly excited by it. However, given that the lip balm is advertised as vegan, and given that I have a compulsion to try everything that Lush bring out, I found myself buying a couple of these on release day.

To say I was pleasantly surprised by the lip balm, is an understatement - I was bowled over. For starters, it smells nothing like the egg nog I've seen being dished out at various family houses. As opposed to the sickly, milky scent that I was expecting, I instead found that Eggsnog smells much more festive and sugary than the drink it's trying to replicate. Imagine the enticing smell of freshly baked mince pies ladened with a sprinkle of nutmeg and a dash of (vegan) cream: that's what this product smells like! Vanilla, cinnamon, and a hint of lemon oil all go together to make a flavour that’s truly scrumptious. It epitomises the very essence of Christmas whilst still being highly practical and useful.

The spicy, buttery lip balm also does wonders to your lips. Eggsnog contains a luxurious mixture of butters and nut oils to make a lip balm that’s soft, yet protective for winter lips. One small dab smooths over your lips effectively, leaving them feeling instantly moisturised and protected. Unlike other lip balms (Maple Taffy, None Of Your Bees Wax), Eggsnog isn't heavy or oily so it wont leave any sticky residue on your lips. I found my lips felt softer and more hydrated within a few hours of first applying it.

Ultimately, this is by far my favourite lip balm from Lush and I have since bought a few more tubs to store away for the coming months. I don't quite know whether I could still use this during the warmer months, as it is very seasonal-scented. However, while the nights are still dark and cold, I keep this balm close by for comfort.
