Rose Jam Liquid Perfume

Back in December 2012, I did my usual task of logging onto Lush.co.uk, to find that they were selling a selection of Forum Special perfumes. At the time, I was only just beginning to build my Lush stash and wasn't 'in the loop' about what these specials were; I had stumbled upon them purely by accident.

Immediately, I saw that both The Comforter and Creamy Candy were two of the scents and began to hyperventilate a little, before calming down and buying a couple of bottles of each. I didn't take much notice of the other three fragrances, and it was only months later that I regretted making that decision.

Rose Jam was one of the scents that year, and months later I found myself struggling to snag a bottle from eBay for under £40. So when Lush revealed that Rose Jam would be one of their forum specials for 2013, I was really happy; I was not going to let this one slip through my fingers a second time.

As with the other fragrances released that year, Rose Jam was presented in one of the newly-designed bottles - a clear, cuboid-shaped decant with their basic black label on the front and the ingredients on the back. I actually prefer this design to the previous black bottles; it's both more aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well as being more practical - the black bottles were notorious for leaking.

The Rose Jam fragrance was launched a couple of years ago and immediately became one of Lush's most popular scents. Other products that share it's smell include the Rose Jam Bubbleroon and Ro's Argan Body Conditioner - both regular products in their range. Further products that possess the same scent include their discontinued and ever-popular Scentenary Soap and their Rose Jam Shower Gel, which has made a limited appearance in the Christmas range for the last two years.
As for the fragrance itself, Lush explain that they have 'taken real Turkish rose oil and rose absolute, added a hint of zingy lemon and a dash of geranium oil, which brings its own sweet, floral and slightly sharp note to the mix. The resulting fragrance is rich and fruity.'

The scent of this perfume is gorgeous. As its name suggests, it's a sticky-sweet smelling rose perfume, but don't assume that it's sweetness means it's not a mature smell; quite the opposite. Rose Jam is a fragrance for those that want to enjoy the natural scent of a rose without the potency that this can sometimes bring.

It's a natural, floral scent that has been uplifted with the likes of lemon, geranium and tonka bean, all of which give it a modern twist that lasts for hours and hours and hours. To me, this perfume smells like the jam in the middle of a doughnut with a little added floral; a delicious, luxurious scent that'll guarantee to turn heads and get you noticed.

Rose Jam is definitely a wonderful, strong, mature rose perfume. Yet, it is not so strong that it ages the scent. It is a playful, fruity, feminine aroma that has the youthfulness to appeal to younger perfume lovers while also drawing in the older fans as well.

Ultimately, the only reason I didn't give this perfume full marks was because I found that the fragrance was one I had to be 'in the mood for'. It's not one I could wear every day - it has it's 'moments'. However, I have no qualms topping up this beautiful scent throughout the day, and I can imagine getting through a 30ml bottle very quickly. Here's hoping Lush bring it back soon!

    1. I'm afraid the only way to get it at the moment is to keep scouting eBay or hope that the Lush kitchen release it again. It's such a popular product and is always being requested so there's a good chance of this happening.
