Party Balloon Gold Reusable Bubble Bar

As part of their 'party products' collection, Lush have brought out five different reusable bubble bars in the shape of balloons. Sporting either a gold, purple, green, pink or silver colour, these limited editions share the same aroma, but are only exclusively available when you organise a party through the Liverpool store. Feeling generous, Lush released a handful of these for a very limited time last month and I was lucky enough to grab one for myself.

Party Balloon Gold Reusable Bubble Bar is a beautiful design: an orange bubble bar with a gentle coating of lustre that leaves a shimmer on the surface of the product, and in your bath tub after the first use. While fairly small in size, I was able to use mine across three rather splendid baths, which made this limited edition great value for money.

Containing grapefruit and lime oils, this bubble bar is very much like the Elsie The Giraffe (You're Having A Laugh) Bubble Bar: a bright and very citrusy aroma. Both the lime and grapefruit offer their own fruity notes in this collaboration, and the results are something uplifting and and very fresh. This is definitely not a smell that would win any awards for being particularly interesting, but it does its job and works well with the design it comes as.

After holding it under the water for a matter of seconds, the golden lustre disappears into the water and you're left with a bright orange bubble bar to contend with. As you would expect, this turns the water the same shade of colour, and having held it under the tap for a good minute, the water is actually quite colourful and strong.

What I will say about Party Balloon Gold is that you need to really swish with either your hands or the bubble bar itself, in order to generate the bubbles you wish to have. Simply holding it under the tap wont heed very much at all, so you'll need to put some work in if you want a layer of light, fluffy bubbles to indulge yourself with.

Once in the water, I found that the scent wasn't particularly strong in and around the tub, but my nose was able to grapple with both the lime and grapefruit oils on occasions as I was bathing. This meant that when I towelled myself down, the fragrance hadn't lingered at all on my skin, and it certainly didn't stick around any time afterwards either.

This is definitely a bubble bar that I would use alongside a bath bomb, as I feel it acts as more of a supportive role than being good enough to be used by itself. What I will say is that Party Balloon Gold was fairly moisturising, as far as reusable bubble bars go, and I did notice a difference to the water once I had used this in the tub. My skin did feel lovely and smooth after bathing with this and my skin also felt mildly radiant as well, which is due to the inclusion of the citrus oils.

Ultimately, this is great as a novelty purchase and for somebody who wants to enjoy the ultimate party experience in store. However, there is nothing particularly special about this bubble and it doesn't really stand out as being all that different from the many reusables that we have seen over the last twelve months.

  3. The Party Balloon Gold Reusable Bubble Bar is a visually stunning product that adds a touch of luxury to your bath time routine. Its vibrant orange color is complemented by a delicate layer of lustre that leaves a shimmery finish on the surface of the bar and in your bathtub. Despite its small size, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it lasted for three luxurious baths, making it a great value for the limited edition item.
