Nebula Bath Bomb

While I have always sat on the fence about my opinion of supersized bath bombs, there was no containing me when I first learnt about Nebula. Sporting the same design and smell as Intergalactic Bath Bomb, albeit five times the size, this limited edition quite literally blew my mind when I purchased on to use for myself.

As with all of Lush's extra large bath bombs, this one has had a little tweaking when regards to its smaller brother. Firstly, the depth of the blue shell is definitely a little softer on the eye, although that's not to say that you don't get an amazing colourful display in the bath tub. The company know that they cannot intensify the colour too much in a large sized product as the likelihood of causing skin irritation is far higher in these special editions.

Secondly, I noticed that the scent wasn't as robust as the smaller version, despite it definitely packing a punch in the water. Much like the above sentiments, too much of a good thing can be an overindulgence, and if the bath bomb had too much of an essential oil, it would not only cost far more than the £12 price tag that this one has over its head, but it would also cause a good many infections for sure.

Differences aside, everything about this extra large planet-of-a-bath-bomb is simply perfect. Much like its younger brother, Nebula is made up created from  peppermint, cedarwood and vetivert oil: creating a fresh, invigorating minty experience. In the shop, Nebula gives off a slightly smoky/woody aroma, which although low in the mix, is still very noticeable on the senses. However, unlike Dirty, this bath bomb doesn't have the herbal element of the thyme that you would expect from the fragrance, and it's also a little fresher-smelling to boot.

Instead, the peppermint oil intertwines with the grapefruit oil perfectly - creating a mint-dominated aroma with a very subtle thread of citrus running alongside this. This latter ingredient dampens the harsh kick that you would normally expect from a minty product and instead offers something invigorating and refreshingly beautiful yet very rounded at the same time.

In the water, Nebula is obviously far heavier and needs to be held on the surface, otherwise it tends to sink to the bottom pretty quickly. It immediately begins to send out rich trails of vivid blue across the surface of the tub, whilst dashes of both bright pink and white pattern the surface like a galaxy all in itself.

As waves and waves of colour turn the bath water a wonderfully deep shade of blue, you'll begin to notice that the centre of the product is full of beautiful golden lustre, which filters out with the waves of colour and pulsates under the surface of the water. Once the bath bomb has fully dissolved, this lustre sends shimmers across the water and acts like a million golden stars in an evening sky.

Much like Intergalactic, Nebula features a little popping candy as well, so if you submerge yourself under while it's dissolving, you'll enjoy a little snap, crackle and pop as well. Once you are finished, you are left with beautifully soft skin, and the wonderful smells lingers on your skin for hours afterwards, helping you to feel super clean and refreshed.

Obviously, this isn't a bath bomb I would invest in regularly, as not only do I have my favourite Intergalactic to indulge in whenever I need a that minty hit, but it's also an expensive investment for one single bath. However, this is definitely a novelty item that fans would love to try out for themselves at least once, and I thank Lush for giving me that opportunity to do so.
