As one of Lush’s long standing fragrance, I am very surprised that there isn’t a permanent bath bomb in this scent. Before Pop In The Bath was discontinued, The Olive Branch fans could indulge themselves by using one of these alongside their favourite shower gel. For this reason, I am not surprised at all that this bath bomb was one of the twelve released last week, as part of the company’s community favourites.
The Olive Branch Bath Bomb is one that hits you immediately upon peeling back the lid of the delivery box, and sets the precedence for just how strong the aroma is when you use one of these in the baths. As near to perfection as you get, this is now one of my all-time favourite bath bombs, and only goes to show me that Lush still have it in them to produce amazing products.
Sharing its scent with the shower gel of the same name, this bath bomb offers an experience packed full of floral, fruity and herbal notes all at once. My first sniff unveiled a robust, powdery note of floral from the orange flower absolute, which is perhaps slightly stronger in this format then I’ve experienced with other Olive Branch-scented products.
Alongside this, threads of the mandarin hovered underneath: strong enough to elevate the whole aroma a little without being exactly ‘fruity’. The inclusion of the vine leaves and olive oil, hence the name, gave the bath bomb a delicate nutty note as well, which added a warming note to the whole smell. Ultimately, this bath bomb is an amazing homage to the fragrance family, and only differs a little with how much the floral elements are more prominent. Having said that, the format naturally adds quite a powdery smell to most fragrances, so it’s to be expected.
Upon hitting the water, this powerful force of smell immediately begins to fizz and send out waves of orange and white across the surface, swirling and rocking to create beautiful patterns to enjoy. This was a loud fizzer and it wasn’t long until the whole bath tub was full of bright orange water and a few small blanket puddles of white, which dissolved over time. Dissolving in under a minute, The Olive Branch disappears rapidly, but that’s not to say that it doesn’t leave an impression.
What was incredible about this limited edition was the fact that the scent was super strong - before, during and after the experience. I could smell it the entire time I was in the tub, even when I used some fairly potent cosmetics alongside it. Sitting in its waters, I realised very quickly that this is a fragrance that works perfectly in this format, and I was again surprised that it’s taken Lush so long to create this bath bomb.
What was even more impressive was the fact that the bath bomb felt amazing: the water was soft and comforting, and I left the bath tub with incredible smooth and moisturised skin. Furthermore, the scent lingered for a good couple of hours after I had towelled myself down, so I was able to bask in the wonderful aroma for even longer. Before bed, this is the perfect smell to help you feel incredibly relaxed and blissful: it made me wish I had another few of these to stash away.
Overall, this is yet another stunning release from Lush and makes me incredibly happy that consumers finally as some good quality bath bombs to sink our teeth into (not literally, I hope!) I would recommend you try this one out for sure, and I hope the feedback from fans will help to make this one a permanent in shops.
